So, I got this idea. Feel free to shoot it down or help me with it. I feel that I need at least another couple of months to wear the rest of the "new shiny" off of my new toy. But I'm old and a wimp. The first thing to get cold is my hands, and I really never liked any of the mitts/gloves/ heated gloves that I've tried. What do you think of this idea. Back when I was still riding dirt bikes (many moons ago), I remember seeing "brush guards", attached to the bars and covering the hand area. They were made of plastic and kind of looked like a milk jug cut out. I wonder if I couldn't fabricate something like that to deflect cold air away from my hands. I feel that just a 50% deflection would help a lot. Maybe fabricate them out of some thin sheet metal, paint them up to look attractive, clamp them to the bars. Or does anybody know if this product already exists?

I'm sure there's something out there you could buy off the shelf that would fit your bike or fab something up as you say. But ummmm, why not get heated grips?

Rich, they sell exactly what you're looking for. Check out the Tiger lineup. I've had both heated grips and heated gloves for various bikes. I prefer the gloves as they heat a larger area, tops of fingers etc.

The whole idea of heated grips and gloves leaves me cold. (pun intended) I'd rather do some kind of "air deflector". I don't want to run the wires and deal with the whole "accessory harness" thing." And every kind of glove that isn't just plain ole thin leather is uncomfortable for me. I don't even wear gloves in the winter to work in.

me too (well the gloves anyway)
I do understand about the thinner leather, wires and such, but the the gloves are thinner than most other cold weather gloves and keep my hands very warm. Which is all I need to get to work or ride around on a sunny and/or dry, cold day.
Those "Hippo Hands" are what the police here all have. I bet they have heated grips too.

I wear silk liners under my winter gloves. Never really had an issue getting cold.

I feel the same though.
I always wear leather gloves when I ride, the thin leather palm side keeps the feelings from the grips, throttle, bar.
Whenever I try winter gloves, I feel I lose those feelings from the bulk of insulation and it just doesn't feel right.

Years ago I tried the Hippo Hands. My hands got claustrophobic and they really don't do a great job.
Heated grips are a big plus. I'm missing having warm comfortable hands when riding the Indian so I'll be using heated gloves soon. The Vision is much more weatherproof and comfy.
