I am speaking about the band not that indiscretion where I ran a Gremlin into a stone wall many a year ago. Ray and the crew stopped by the Ottawa Folk Festival tonight for 1 1/2 hrs of up tempo Texas swing and the audience at that stage (2 others going at same time) were transfixed by the sound. Many that had never heard them before and much younger stumbled upon the venue and didn't leave until after the encore. Ever since Jane used to roust me from bed on a Saturday morning with fresh brewed coffee and Route 66 blasting out of the speakers I have enjoyed listening to and seeing them.

They remind me of "Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks", I'll buy a ticket if they come my way.

If they're even somewhat reminiscent of Dan Hick and his Hot Licks, I'm in!

Who would think you guys like Texas swing.

Who wouldn't be into it if one gave it a chance and had a good dance floor to dance on? A late 20ish couple mosied up to within 10 people of the stage last night and didn't have a clue what they were in for, like Jane and I they didn't leave until Ray waved goodbye.
As we were walking away the stage sound crew played Trailer for Sale or Rent and everyone sang along as they walked away. Admit it or not that is probably one of the most known songs of a couple generations.

Keith they started a year apart back in the late 60's if you like Dan Hicks you will like Asleep at the Wheel. This is only the third time in 30 years they have made it here to Ottawa and we were there each time.

http://www.smtxswingfest.com/http://texaswesternswing.com/http://hottexasswingband.com/Sadly Texas swing is not as popular as it once were and it is truly a matter of scheduling your trip to coincide with a show you would like to see.

Well contact me when ya come through my region. If there isn't a good show we can at least meet up for a drink or a bite to eat. If you are bringing ya motorcycles mayhaps we can go for a ride.

Just know Chad, that a visit from a Cunuck transported from this north proximity to the likes of Texas is a bit of an oxymoron and could lead to lack of cohesion for both parties. Sometimes an interpreter (and/or a few beers (not Pabst)) is needed to break through ethnic barriers. At least you both have motorcycles in common... that's a start.

Yes, I do understand that there is a vast cultural difference between Canadians and Texans, but you guys are always welcome around any where that I am. Don't know any translators who speak Canuk. Maybe Sam Adams can help. Before we know you guys would be drinking Shiner (Texas brand of beer) and I will be having a Molson.

I already like ice hockey. Here we don't ever get ice so we play it by strapping a pair of goats to our feet and we use petrified sheep dung for a puck and we play it in a field surrounded by barbed wire. Concept is still the same, someone gets slammed into the fence and then they throw their gloves down and fight.
