Turning on to the dam at Standing Stone State Park in Tennessee, I was distracted by something behind me and went just a little wide and my bar end mirror clipped the stone wall. Before I could get the Speedmaster away from it, the handlebar caught good and turned me into the wall. Good news is that the bike only had scratches on the mirror on rear turn signal. Bad news is that I have 3 broken metatarsals in my left foot! Luckily I was going slow or it would have been much worse!
The wall in question!

Sorry about that Scott. I'm glad your mostly alright. I did something similar in Hot Springs. I skimmed a cliff at 5 mph going up to the Tower in Hot Springs. Skinned up up my leg and arm pretty bad. I felt really stupid at the time but it happens.

At least you weren't THIS guy.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope you heal up fast. As a guy who play doctor a lot as a college student, I am prescribing "The Nutty Professor" playing on TCM right now. Is it a great movie, no, but you will get to see a 27 year old Stella Stevens and you will fill better.

Bummer! I get distracted a lot in the summer time, especially if I drive by the public swimming pool. At least you can talk about it and the bike is ok.

So here is a question for those of you that have done something stupid and crashed. Do you question riding again when you heal up? I am, mainly because the incident was so minor and I ended up with a broken foot! And it was my total lack of attention that caused it. If I had been in a car, scratched mirror at worst. By the way, that's all the bike had!
Of course everybody that ask what happened has to tell me how dangerous motorcycles are and that they know someone that has been killed or crippled from a motorcycle accident! That doesn't help much!
I have at least 6 weeks or so to think about it while the foot heals!

What, in bloody hell are ya saying? Answer is no. I know people who were killed in cars, on boats, and at work. Its a dangerous business going out the front door. My grandpa didn't even make it that far. He died putting his pants on one morning. He was in his 60s.
Fact is everything is dangerous if ya have ya head up you arse. Problem with cars is they generally kill someone else rather than or along with themselves.
You said it ya self you weren't paying proper attention. Let it be a lesson to ya and stay focused.

Nope, and crashed a few times when I was a kid doing stupid stuff. My friend was starting his kick only bike with the other foot and riding with his other one in a cast from an accident. His normal kick start foot was the one in the cast.

Well let's see um both collar bones broken shin bone compound fracture a few bones in both feet and a crushed tail bone, think that's it. Lol there is no way I will stop riding as long as I can sit on and control it, I am riding it. If you enjoy riding than don't let a couple minor broken bones stop you !!! Just learn from your mistake and move on don't do it again. You can die at any moment for any reason do you ever fly? Do you ever drive? Do you ever walk down the street or a flight of stairs ?? You can get hurt or die doing any of those things ! We all have to decide for ourselves what risk we arc willing to take . I for one would never go swimming in the ocean at night but would hang glide again in a minute ?? Which one has less risk?? Lol ENJOY Brother whatever you decide!!

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

How do you feel when you're NOT crashing? If that still puts a grin on your face, then just remember to pay more attention.

That's kind of what I thought how everyone felt, and so do I.
Sunday afternoon my friend drove my bike home from his house to mine and as I could hear him coming I thought, "Damn that bike sounds good!" And I was wanting to ride it!
