My wife and I (and kids) rescued a greyhound yesterday. We wanted a snappy, unusual name. So...Hinckley is the winner.

I'm sure my coworkers will give me heck for it...but I wanted to eshow my Triumph spirit.

A lady down the street from me has a greyhound, which I see her take for a walk from time to time. What a graceful looking animal!

Nice name, Brad. If you get another one, you could name it Meridan.......

Good for you. My company owns several greyhound racetracks and they are very into the adoption thing. They are wonderful animals and great with children as well.
Some of them are a bit skittish at first, and some are scared to death of mirrors, stairs and bushes. Bushes you say? For some odd reason they have been bred to run only where they can see and will not jump into bushes or run anywhere that is obstructed (like into traffic between cars..a very good thing).
So, what do you call a dog with no legs?
Doesn't matter, he won't come anyway.

Nice one, Pat.

He is kind of shy of the bushes...except for the one he took a big dump in.

Papa, Meridan is a great name for #2 ...if the Mrs. allows it.

Congrats on the dog. Will be interested in how it goes.
The greyhounds seem a bit on the high-strung side. Our neighbor had one and had to give it away. I think it had mental probs but I am sure that was the exception.

Just saw a bunch yesterday at a local marathon...so would be interested if you occasionaly post your experiences.
have fun w/Hinckley!!

What a coincidence! I too, have been known to rescue a dog or two. The most recent was also a greyhound and like you wanted to honor the Triumph name. This particular dog was in an accident and lost a leg – I named him Speed Triple.

I also had another rescue a few years prior – This one also was injured. The poor mutt had lost all his legs. I named him Cigarette. Every day I would take him out for a drag.

Seriously – What you’re doing is commendable and important. Greys make fine companions. Good luck and enjoy your new pal.

Cigarette, because every night you take him out for a drag!

For the record:

his track name: JC's Sawblade
kennel name: Blake
new Triumph-related name: Hinckley!

And to celebrate...I took my Speedy out for a nice, cool ride.

newt,
Yes, my company owns that one too, as well as Daytona Beach and another one down there if FL.And about 5 or 6 more across the country (Memphis, Phoenix, Wisconsin, Wheeling West Va.) We also run the Kennedy Space Center visitor center. All one big happy Delaware North Company. We run all the National Parks in the US too (DNC Parks Services - Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Sequoia, etc etc) and they sell the hot dogs and beers at 90% of the sports stadiums too (SportsService) and many of the food and beer joints at airports across the country, LAX being one of the larger ones. More and more casinos, all the big famous Mississippi Riverboats (Mississippi Queen, Delta Queen and a couple more) I just wish they were public so we could buy into them. But noooooo, they want all the money themselves. Like every other company in the good old US of A.
