Hi everyone!
After owning a America 2012 EFI, trading her for a brand new Tiger XC which I've sold in 2013, I finally got new saddle again!
Let me tell you the story...
What was I looking for?
Simple and difficult to get as well: A carbureted America / SM just as new.
The goal was very complicated, because the newest carbureted I could find had obviously at least 6 years old, so inevitably, they all had tens of thousands of
miles on their backs. I'm not saying they are bad or old bikes, just saying it was not what I was looking for.
Another requirement, was that the bike was as original as factory, with no modifications (air filter, airbox, pipes, jets nor other).
Why was that? Because part of the gratification I get buying this kind of bike, is to customize them, planning and having these mods done by myself.
Come on, who has this kind of bike I was looking for, between 2003 and 2007, almost new with low mileage, just as factory and on sale???
After looking for months, I discarded the idea for impossible... until I came across this gem: 100% original carbureted Speedmaster 2007 with only 2500 km (1,500 miles)...
!!! WOW!!!
The bike also had Triumph original summer screen, Triumph original engine guards and Triumph original key-locked gas cap.
The bike had been ocasionally used (always 1-up) in the past 3 or 4 years, resting in a closed garage most of the time just piling up dust. So, after contacting the owner, he took it to the mechanic for a general check (oil change, filters change, cables adjustments, brake check and other settings).
Everything seemed perfect, so what else could I ask for?
It was near home ...
The bike was in Andalusia, that's about 1100 km (aprox 700 miles) from home!
After considering the downsides of such a large ride, I decided the bike might be worthwhile, so I flew in a low-cost flight, to Malaga to get her.
Just at first sight, you could easily tell the bike was spotless... so I bought her!!!
And suddenly, there I was, riding a carbed 07 Speedmaster, just as new and 100% original!
The bike, at first was a little lazy, the owner never pushed her higher than 4000 RPM but taking advantage of the long trip I got ahead, I gave her time to slowly wake up. More than 1000 km of journey, allowed to gradually increase revs without mistreating her... we are just knowing eachother!
After a 12 hours riding, the bike was perfect, flawless and very easy to ride. Upon arriving at BCN, the bike seemed much agile and docile, without any unusual noise
or loss of any body fluids, lol.
I'm now planning having these mods, so you'll see me quite often around here:
Open pipes (TOR if I can afford them).
Air filter mod (air filter pods with airbox removal vs just fitting a K & N filter and drilling the box).
Take away the engine guards (done).
Remove the screen (done).
Block the SAI (first thing I did).
Jet according the pipes and air filter mod.
Trim the rear fender.
Maybe mount a solo seat.
But that will come later, now it's time to introduce her. I want you to share with you the joy of seeing these real gems, very well preserved and cared, as they were the day they left Hinckley's factory.
Here's how she arrived at home after the 12-hours ride. With the summer screen, engine guards and a lot of dirt, insects and chain grease. Luckily none of these appear in the picture

As there is no better way (at least I don't know any) to thoroughly check a bike, I decided to clean her thoroughly and remove seat and covers to see what was underneath.
Excess chain greasing. I decided to remove the sprocket cover to have a look at the sprocket and clean excess grease.

Here's the sprocket properly degreased and cleaned:

Here's a detailed picture of the front disc (one of them, lol). Brand new disk with no scratches. You can also see the original almost unused Metzeler front tires!

Rear wheel... wow!:
Engine:

Tank:
Under the seat ... a strange and unknown new world to the former owner... he never removed the seat! Sorry but I removed the snorkel because the simple fact of seeing
it there made me ache eyes.

Some more detailed pics, so you can see how new she is ...

And this is her final look (as far), cleaned, regreased, with no guards nor screen:
Well hope you enjoyed this, thanks in advance for sharing my joy and sorry for my English (corrections are very well apreciated)!!!
