I picked up a set of ISO grips today and for the life of me I can't get the right one over the throttle sleeve. The set I got are 6240 and they are supposed to fit. Any suggestions?

If you want an easy life, swap them for a set of 6236 that come with the throttle tube already installed. I say that because I have a set of the black universals on my '05 and it took hours, and I mean hours of grinding off the fins on the throttle body and then sanding down the inside of the grip rubber, and even then (because the strengthening fins had been removed from the throttle tube) the throttle was tight, which meant more hours of sanding the rubber until it was loose on the bars....if I want another set of black grips I'm going to get a chrome set powder coated, it's less work!
Caspian Blue '03 BA, Union Jack/Stars and Stripes paint, BUBs, Progressive 812s, and lots of chrome

I had an iso grip with a broken sleeve and so I fit it onto a stock sleeve off a 2012 sm. I took a piece of 1 inch bar stock, put in the lathe and slid the throttle sleeve on (with a bit of tape to make it tight). then turn off the fins. used some grip glue and slid on the iso grip. all good

After pulling the throttle tube and sanding it down, and sanding the rubber inserts on the ISOs I was able to get the grips on. Did have to throw in a few choice words and hold my mouth just right to do it though. For anyone thinking of adding these grips go with the 6236. The 6240 might say that it is a universal fit and easier to install. What it should say is THIS IS A ROYAL PAIN IN THE A$$.
