Getting allot of popping now and even some popping at low RPM, has anyone tried a RTV or gasket seal material at the headers in conjunction with new gaskets? thanks

Have you examined your squirrel condoms? Failure of those often cause the popping situation you describe. Unplugging the TPS would be my next step.

Yup, checked rubber plugs. Unplugging TPS? Not sure what you mean. Is that common source of problem? Will have to look that up.

Would that be instead of gaskets or in conjunction with new gaskets. I need to verify first ifvi have a leak, just drove it home and noticed the issue. Only have visually checked rubber plugs.

More likely you have an air leak on the intake side, but leaking at the head/header juncture is a possible cause. You have a '03, so deterioration just from age is bound to occur. You do not mention if your air injection is still intact, or any modifications you have made, popping is a common occurrence, with the same old culprits as the cause. Look for unwanted air entering the system.

yup pretty much as Ryk describes, make sure every bolt from the header to the slip on is tight. Make sure the manifolds are tight, if AI removed that the condoms are not cracked etc, make sure (if AI removed) all bolt replacements are tight, check intake to carb boots, make sure they are not cracked, make sure rings are tight etc etc. YOu can also go around with some WD40 and spray (as bike is running) around some of those joints, see if the engine rpm changes noticeably, likley a leak, worst case if nothing, wipe it down and everything will look nice and shiny! :-) good luck

Check the intake boots between the carbs and head. They have been known to crack right where the clamp is causing a lean condition. Need to look closely.

Unplugging the Throttle Position Sensor on the right carb has been know to eliminate popping on deceleration without causing any noticeable change in performance. I ran mine like that for years. Very hard to unplug though. Do not remove/unscrew the TPS from the carb!!

Well I found some problems. One vacumn cap on the left side cracked and air inlet rubber shield on right carb out of place. I replaced the cap from supplies I had from SBC carb parts and repositioned the air inlet to carb rubber shield....not sure what Triumph calls them. All intake bolts were tight and I did not see any apparent leaks on the exhaust manifold. The fuel/oil residue on the left carb intake bolt I am hoping is there from the minor backfires and misses from the cracked cap. Once the rain passes and the roads dry I will take it out and see if it is any better. QUESTION: I have never balanced the carbs. It has always run pretty well to me. I assume I can use two vacumn gages and attached one to each side where the rubber caps are. Is that correct? Well I see I gotta figure out how to post a pic, if even possible.

Yes that is where you attached the "balancer" You should check the balance once and a while...

after looking at those picks as best i can i can gurantee you that you have some intake leaks for sure that are not helping you.

I know it is hard to see but there is a small minor fuel track on the left carb from the air inlet side. I am hoping it is a result of misfires from the cracked rubber cap. Guess we will see, thanks

Well I just went for a good ride and things are much better. Corrected the vacumn plug, rubber air intake, cleaned air filter and checked bolts. Much better and popping on decell reduced significantly. Now I need to get another vacumn gauge and check carb balance, thanks to all.

If you haven't already done so, I also suggest checking the exhaust crossover clamp...I just discovered that mine was loose, although it didn't look like anything was wrong on visual inspection alone.
