Hi all,
I was thinking about upgrading my 06 America (carb) and putting in a big bore kit. I spoke to my favourite (Queens english lads) mechanic and he told me that there was a real risk of blowing the bottom end with that sort of mod on my bike as it has done better than 50,000Km.
Does anyone have an opinion or advise on this mod on a bike of this age and Km?
Thanks in advance.

I've always been told that the bottom end on these things were "bullit proof", as they were originally designed to handle a 1000 cc motor. But others on here would know better than I. Never heard of anyone EVER breaking one.

Never heard of anyone loosing the bottom end on these bikes. Many have the 904 and larger kits installed. With 4 main bearings and a substantial crank, these engines will handle the 904 with no problems.

i would not worry about it, so many have done so more, these are strong, no way a 904 is gona blow up on ya. But if ya go 904 you really should go 39m flat side carbs too to get all the bang for the bark.

Maybe his mechanic doesn't have the skills to do the BB and is trying to hide the fact by steering him away from it.
