Guys,I remember reading a post ,years ago about how to convert front turn signals into run/turn lights. I know i could buy different signals or use a kisan signal minder etc.I dont want to do that.I know someone has done this by using a relay and running a wire.

I've got my rear turn signals converted to running/turn signal lights. It was easy... just took time (like everything else). Went to an auto parts store and bought universal 1157 sockets. Mounted them on... oh I know... mason jar lids (modified a bit to accept the socket to fit the housing). Then just wired the two circuits accordingly.

I tried to get my new rear signals (which I bought for run/turn reasons) and can not figure it out. It's maddening. I'll be watching this.

I'll help you sort that out when you get here, Brent.

I'll admit my first stab at it was to buy the Electrical Connections Dyna running light kit to enable rear running and braking lights. Since then I've done two other running light conversions, both using aftermarket dual element signals. Once you identify the rear running light lead it's pretty easy to splice in a line to the signal sockets. The typical aftermarket dual element (ala BellaCorse) has three wires, white for the flasher, black for the running element and black/white for the ground. Yep, the color coding is not intuitive. Standard 1157 stuff tho and not too complicated once you wrap your head around the different wattage of the dual elements: lower for running, higher for turn or braking.

This could easily convert into a how-to thread if you wish. First: will you want to use the stock pumpkins and customize them or would you buy dual element signals as an upgrade?

Let me look into what is stock at the big box auto parts places and I'll get busy. Someone will have a wired 1157 socket I can adapt to a stock signal and take pictures. The wiring isn't so difficult but it can seem really arcane if you havent done it before, I'll see if I can't use all off the shelf stuff to make for an easy adaptation.
