Has anyone here had their pipes ceramic coated? My pipes currently have high heat paint on them and after years of use they need to be re-done. My pipes are a b!$&& to take on and off so I was considering the more permanent solution of ceramic coating. If you had yours done... 1. Where did you send them? 2. What was the cost?

I bought my 02 America new. After a couple of months the header pipes not only blued, but started to rust. Very annoying. A couple of years ago, I sent the head pipes to Jet Hot down in NC. They sandblasted them and ceramic coated them. The process isn't going to take all the divots/scratches out of them, but they look real pretty compared to what I had. I went for the chrome look, but I think you can get the pipes done in black or other colors as well. The cost was less than half of what new header pipes would have cost from Triumph. 3 years later, I'm still pretty happy.

I had ceramic coated headers & midpipe done on a Bandit in the late 90's...I was very impressed with the way they turned out.

ceramic coating is only slightly more then powder coating, ceramic is good on the headers etc but can scratch up pretty easy, for both headers in Cnd anyways would likely be around 225 bucks. They only need to mar the chrome, sandblast would be more.

I have silver ceramic coating on the four pipes and muffler on my 1982 Seca Turbo. Originally they were black chrome. Des.

OK, I had to join flickr, but here they are. I hope. My head pipes looked crappy so quickly, I had no interest in enriching Triumph for a replacement set. So while these are a dull chrome, they look lots better than the rust.

Well, I am using firefox on a linux OS. Dont know why I cant get a jpg ending to the link. Im tired. Ill try again tomorrow.

OK, trying again

Looks like it worked this time. Needed to put them into an album on flickr. Leaving them on photostream didnt give them a jpg extension.

There are a few places that offer what is called Near Chrome Armor Coat. It's a metallic ceramic coat that looks really close to chrome. One of the places I know that offers it is Aesthetic Finishers in Piqua, Ohio www.afipowder.com .

i went the budget other way ... heat wrapped the headers and used bbq paint on the rest of the pipes ... patch priming every 6 months or so , exhaust wrap lasts about 12 months ...

02 america,158 main, pods, homemade exhaust, sissy bar,box section high rise bars ... if it doesn,t need to be on there , throw it at an annoying neighbour lol
