It could be machined or it could be poured in....

It would be sorta stupid I suppose. I machined a Delrin bushing once, worked great but as a cush drive it would be pretty ridged . They call it a cush drive for a reason, and make it out of rubber for the same.

It'd have more give than the copper one I was thinking of prior to this stroke of Guinness.

Well, you could Google it, but I'll tells ya, it's a high tech polymer, sorta like an acrylic. Easy to machine, usually white in color.

Delrin aka UHMW is a machinable thermoplastic. It comes in several grades and shapes with associated properties. Self lubricating bearing applicable, abrasion resistant for wear areas such as receiving hoppers from conveyors, used a lot in the food industry as a backstop for slicers and dicers as to not dull the knives so much and easy to clean. They make it in Tacoma for one and several other places around the world. It has been around since at least 1972, when I first saw it in industrial applications and probably before that ... It would definitely take any cushion out of a cush drive.

Delrin in not the same a UHMW. It's more Nylon like but it is a type of Acetal. It's hard and has no give to it. Unlike UHMW, it is more stable due to moisture and temperature changes. UHMW grows and swells like crazy. It has very good wear properties, UHMW does too but Delrin is better. It makes great chain guides and other wear surfaces. One of the self lubricating versions is called Nyoil.
I'm built for comfort, I ain't built for speed

Well, Delrin and UHMW seems to be always stored in the same rack everywhere I have been, I assumed (my bad) it was basically the same dog with two different trademarks. Still wouldn't be worth a bag 'o' beans as a cush replacement. Paper and pulp mills use the heck out of both, for caustic resistance. I have a pile of the stuff in every color and application, that was given to me , anybody want some, let me know, it's taking up useful real estate.

Delrin is used in performance upgrades for bushings in suspension parts. It is used on sway bars, A-arms,and other suspension parts. It's harder than rubber and Poly Graphite but still has some "give" but not much. The "Shore scale" is what's used to rate their hardness. The "cush drive" is short for "cushion drive" and is there for a reason. With NO cushioning in the drive train to take up any "Snatch" effect you'll cause excessive wear on Transmission bearings, chain, gears, wheel bearings, swing arm bushes and on your self too. It would feel like being on a Carnival ride that starts and stops abruptly. With the power transmission coming on very abruptly it could be dangerous when applying throttle coming out of a corner. It's there for a reason and to start second guessing what has been done by design engineers i personally feel would be detrimental to the handling of the bike.

Changing or completely ignoring engineering design for the sake of aesthetics (but it looks way cool) has caused a lot of trouble and pain for people. Sometimes it brings on heavy handed laws such as any modification is illegal and of course user fee inspection stickers to show compliance.
