Or is it, mind the bear. This 2-3 yo cub came to visit today. My gal and I must have spend over an hour taking pictures and video as he went after the cherries next door.

I should see if I can get some picture of my mom new resident. My mom has bird feeders out and she has had a momma bear and 2 very young cubs camping in her yard every day for a few weeks now. She doesn't care who is there, mom mom gets about 20 feet from her and she just looks for a second then goes back to her business. Trouble is this bear is destroying bird feeders and the fence my mom has around her pool. Cost $2,000 to fix last time, bear just bends it and goes in, try shooting her in the butt with a BB gun but all that does is make her run off for about 5 minutes then she comes back. I haven't seen her yet but my mom says she is very big, 400 to 500 pounds.

If I was going about shooting a Bear in the backside with a BB gun Ian,I'd want someone with a 20mm cannon beside me.

Very cool.

We get our share of bear around here. I try to keep the camera handy to get pics, but they're generally "on the move" and elusive.
It's always great to see them around, and they don't bother you unless you bother them.

Yesterday, I was riding back from a client site and came across a truly sad sight, a very small black bear cub had just be killed crossing the road. It was no bigger than a child's teddy bear. Just awful seeing it there on the road. An Animal Control Officer had just pulled up to remove it as I passed. I'm sure Momma Bear was nearby.

Wow, and I get cranky about the birds and squirrels getting my cherries and berries! I'm gonna quit complaining now!

Hiking or riding a mountain bike in Canada, I don't think there's anything scarier than seeing a couple of cubs on one side of the path.... and mamma bear on the other side.

You are between her and her cubs... not a good place to be!

Although.... there was this one time when I was hiking peacefully in Quebec, and a big deer jumped over a bush to land... face to face with me. The horrible screeching noise it made inches from my face still haunts my dreams from time to time....

I know! Then today another bear came around... in a way I'm not liking this. Went shopping for bear bangers but they were out of them. For some reason there's a lot of bears in the neighbourhood this year. At least 5 people are speculating.

In a way I envy you.

When I lived in Arkansas I spent a lot of time in the Ozarks. I love watching nature and would sit on a hill side nearly all day to watch deer, turkey, and bear. Now I know the Ozark bears are black bears which are far less dangerous than the brown bear. Keep safe .

Cool to see but be mindful of their unpredictable nature. My brother in law in Alaska was forced to shoot a bear that attacked. All he had was his 357 revolver sidearm but it was enough.

Couple years back, there was one sitting in a deck chair on my mom's back porch. Casually eating from a bird feeder. Now she wears a whistle when walking at night and double checks before she opens the door.

Bird seed makes very good bear bait, but you already know that
