It's been a while since I posted been busy with summer fun. As many know I'm a big fan of the Military Aviation Museum here in Virginia Beach. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to fly in their 1941 Stearman biplane. Like most I've flown a bit in various aircraft from Cessna's to Commercial liners (which is like riding in a damn bus) but this was my first open cockpit biplane ride. There is nothing like it! If you have an opportunity to ride in such an aircraft I highly recommend grabbing it.

Yep, gotta say 'twould be awesome.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe

Bonus round: They had one of their shows that day and all of their aircraft were flying.

Here's some classic Brits
Top to bottom: Spitfire, Mosquito and Hurricane

Classic lines...

I took this while taxing back. Left to right: Hawker Hurricane, Supermarine Spitfire, P51 Mustang, P40 Warhawk and Russian Mig3 IIRC. You can walk up to the aircraft and speak with the people who restored, maintain and fly them.

A few more. Sorry for the low quality pictures all I had was my phone. The sound of these fighters is incredible.
Note: I caught these two just after takeoff and their landing gear doors are not yet fully closed.

The museum sold one of their restored Focke Wulf 190 and just purchased this one to restore. To the right is the prop and cowl of another restored FW-190-Dora.

Beautiful pictures. I don't pass up many visits to aviation museums. Especially love the British classics shown here, especially the Mossy.
