Ok guys, I know that a while back there was a post about Triumph coming out with a 1000+cc motor. Has anyone heard anything else? I was at the dealership over the weekend and I noticed that the jugs on the 2014 models are considerably larger than the previous years. It looks very similar to the jugs that the guys with 994 billet bb kits have. Is Triumph developing a new motor or are they just going to increase the displacement of ours? I don't know why that they would increase the jug size if they weren't going to increase the displacement, this not knowing is driving me crazy! I know that in the years leading up to the efi switch that they started making subtle changes, is that what they are doing now?

good question Jake, especially when you think they started off with a 790cc then went to the 865, a 1000+ would be about right...
but then they would have to improve the braking system again and maybe introduce the twin discs again?

I am definitely hoping that they simply go for a displacement in increase in our bikes. It would be nice to have something putting out 15 ft/lbs more torque and 15 more hp. Not to mention that it would be nice to be able to use all our current after market parts, the support for the Tbird seems pretty lacking and I don't want to have to go through that.

haha, should have been around in the beginning. There was no support for the BA! Got a 2010 bird too, feels like it did back in 2003 looking for support.

That is exactly what I am talking about Mike! I didn't get my Speedy until the end of 08 so luckily the support was already there. The Tbird however, it's been nearly 5 years since that thing came out and the after market support barely exists! I feel bad for you guys, the lack of after market support for the Tbirds has been one of the biggest hang ups for me wanting to get one aside from it being liquid cooled.

Don't make me cry. It'd be all my dreams come true if they left our bikes looking as they do but bumped up the HP and Torque. If they did that, and made the changes able to be retro fitted to our older models,I'd be ecstatic!

Don't feel bad for us guys, it's part of the mystique of owning a Triumph. I show up on the Bird and there's a sea of Harley's and four America's. And everyone flocks to me, I'm a Rock Star I tell ya

I'm satisfied with my 865cc and it always draws attention when I stop anywhere, but the same engine from the factory with 1,000cc+ would be awesome. I've toyed with the idea of a T-bird but I wont do it.I really like size and style etc.of the America/Speedy.

Innovative folks like Brent @ newbonneville, Fast eddy created Fast Eddy Sports, The guy at BellaCorse would locate or have bits built in large parts for the membership on ba.com. I & many others purchased bits from 'em all. Rumour has it, some folks would duct tape HD bits to their rides.

Yeah, and for the MOST part it's hauled MY medium-sized caboose around at pretty good speeds too...EXCEPT when I need to PASS some big semi's caboose OR a line of slow-ass Harley riders' cabooses on a stretch of two-lane highway.
(...and THEN I can't begin to tell you how many times I've suddenly wished MY Bonnie America had an addition 15 or more ponies down there under that gas tank, and ESPECIALLY when I suddenly spot a car or truck OR semi bearing down on me coming in the opposite direction in the lane I'm usin' to PASS the aforementioned "semi" and/or "line of slow-ass movin' Harley riders"!!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Huh, I am a pretty big fella at 6'3" and 275lbs, and my little America can go from 55 to about 100 in the length of a semi truck. (the lateral travel distance required to pass the semi truck traveling at 55. What is required to pass him. To paint the picture here. If I am travelling say 65 and approach a semi travelling @55mph. I approach the bumper and makes sure I am clear to pass. I can be going pretty near 100 depending on conditions by the time I am clear to return to my lane.) Passing as such is not much of an issue. I use to ride as a road guard for the American legion riders, which means passing about 80 of them there slow moving Harleys from one highway intersection to the next. My little trump did it very well. I volunteered once then they started asking me to do it. But I don't ride with them anymore.

Sorry, but I seriously doubt that, Chad.

Sorry for the miscommunication. Thanks for pointing it out. When I wrote it I assumed what would be understood but having re read it after your post Dwight. I can see where that could be a sticking point. Hope my corrections clarify things.

Just read your clarification here Chad, and I pretty much figured beforehand that you didn't mean the length of a stationary semi truck.
And so, I must still question the idea that any stock Bonneville model can accelerate from 55 or 65 mph to "almost 100" in the length of distance a semi is traveling at 55mph.
At least I know MY BA can't do that, and so sorry, I still say your figures are "optimistic".
Point being once again that while yes, for the most part, our STOCK Bonnies making about 50BHP at the rear wheel ARE "sufficient" for most riding needs, I PERSONALLY would have chosen to purchase a larger displacement model of it and of around 1000cc IF the boys in Hinckley had offered THAT sort of thing as an option when this model debuted...and just for the added power that would have supplied in passing situations.
(...btw, you MAY already know the story, but have Fast Eddy tell you about once needing more passing power on a European road while he was traveling with Thanassis over there...it's a harrowing story, and I THINK proves my point here)

Oh no mine is modified so yes you are correct. I agree that yes if a 1000 cc option were available then I would have opted for that as well. But with some minor modification these bikes can really get up and go, and I like the light weight and easy maneuverability of our bikes. I have thought about a thunder bird or a rocket 3 , but I don't want to wrestle a heavy bike around in some of the tighter and crowded areas of Houston.

I do however wish they had a much more comfortable seat. I am working on one that will let air under your arse. May happs that will help. Not much else does.

Mine made 56.4Hp at the rear wheel when I dyno'ed it so it's ok.It's 865cc with pipes and a couple of other little things, but there's times on the highway, going into a strong headwind or sometimes overtaking as examples that bigger would be better.

My 790 is good enough for me for the most part. Where I end up wanting more is when riding two up. And it would be nice to have the option of 1000c bike from the factory and not have to do the big bore kit myself.

Yes, it would be cool if Triumph offered a big bore set up for the Speedmaster/America, like they did for the T-Bird, and like HD does with the Sportster. Nice to have some options if one wanted to up the cc's.

I'm not trading in Crantini for a few extra ponies, it would have to be a wholesale change like going Tiger 800. The 865 with a few minor mods has enough get up and go for me. Semis are rarely on the roads I ride and Harleys usually are only there in ones and twos and feel they need to pass me because maybe its not loud enough.

Exactly. My bike is so good for me in style, weight, handling, etc the way it is but a factory option big bore-cams etc.kit would be NICE.
