Well, here it is: the new Wiseco stroker/big bore 988 kit! Notice that it has the same list price as the standard 904 kit, too. Also notice that Wiseco is calling it a 1/4" stroker - good ol' 'Mer'can numbers. See the piston kit here: http://www.wiseco.com/PDFs/Catalogs/CB06/EuropeanCycleATV.pdfOf course, you'll have to send off your crank to Falicon to have it welded and reground at an additional cost. From what I can tell, that crank work can be found here: http://www.faliconcranks.com/cw-list.htm#plain and it looks like part #600-402 @ $585.00 (plus shipping both ways).

Finally, a big bore with a substantial increase. I'll start saving my pennies.
I wonder if new con rods would be wise with this stroker? I know you can get some made by Carillo.

Is it something you could add to the regular big bore? Or would it be a nightmare to do the big bore, and rip it apart again later to get to the crank?

i am guessing that the pistons for the stroker kit will be very different than the regular big bore kit or you would end up with very strange cr's with the kit once it is stroked. anyone know the compresion ratio of the stroker set up?

Piston part numbers are different according to that Wiseco pdf catalog. Try Bill Gately at www.bonnevilleperformance.com for kit details. He's usually on the cutting edge of Wiseco offerings.

Some answers: I shouldn't think one would need to get aftermarket con rods. The factory jobs look very substantial, especially for street use.
The pistons in the stroker kit are different! The pin is located up 1/8th inch closer to the flat portion of the piston top (it's called "compression height") since the stroke is 1/4 inch longer.
Sorry I can't answer the one about possible case clearance problem, though. If the case does need some grinding for clearance, what one should do is to get a 1/4 inch shank, 3 inch long 6 flute carbide cutter. (This type is for use on aluminum and plastic only!) Just chuck it up in a regular old drill and grind away. Be sure to use wax or WD-40 on the flutes to keep the aluminum from clogging the cutter flutes.

Great! Thanks, now am I required to pull mine all apart to change the crank and rods? Man, you're killin' me! I haven't even put the stinkin cams in her yet.

Hmmm, let's see. Could I get the parts here, installed, and tweaked before GA? Bigger bore - $$$$$ Kicking some Dinqua butt - priceless!!!

Bill Harvey asked if one need modify his case for the stroker kit.
I found this over at the Delphi New Triumph Bonneville forum:
"Oh yeah! Massive amount of machining work needs to be performed. I spoke with the Wiseco people in Feb. about the kit. Took the guy about 5 minutes to explain all that needs to be done."

So that machining work, plus the crank cutting/welding, probly another grand on top of a regular big bore!?

Went over to NTBF and noticed the reply about the massive machining was from RaceDweeb..aka Mike at Bella Corse. Depending on how cheap you can get it done at a qualified shop, I would imagine it'd be very expensive work. Probably won't stop Pat though.
edit: Stopped by the Ace Cafe Delphi forum where Bill Gatley from bonnevilleperformance.com posts. He's racing a Triumph on the AMA Grand National circuit. A few days back I posted a question about these new stroker kits. Here's his reply:
"I just learned today from Dave Fussner at Wiseco that the 989 stroker kit is available soon if not immediately in 10.5:1 compression--again you would have to stroke and balance your crank--hopefully get the Carrillo rods --but what a nice piece for the street."
He also mentioned a custom street tracker he's building for a customer:
"We are building that bike now for a customer in Southern CA--it is a hybrid of our race frame with heavier wall tubing, a 24 degree rake, R6 front suspension revalved with new catridges, fully adjustable triple trees, Penske monoshock rear 55 inch wheel base--with a 904 cc 90+ rear wheel HP engine of our design. This will be a 10.5:1 compression 10k rpm engine with a balanced crank--balancers removed, shim under bucket BP hi-performance head. We are also stopping it with twin 4-piston Beringer calipers with 11.5 floating rotors in the front and a 10.5 floating rotor and a 2 piston Beringer floating caliper in the rear. If you want the next one let me know--we have 2 frames not spoken for at present."
Sounds like a sweet machine....and expensive!

Reply from Bill Gately: The [Carillo]rods are 540.00--the machine work on the crank is 600 for the stroke--and 350 for tthe balancing--you can deliver the parts to us or we can take down your engine and put it back together. For you deep pocket owners, you can contact him through his website at bonnevilleperformance.com. Phone number listed on his site is 386-322-0559.

I guess after all this, I shouldn't be mentioning jojje's new machined-from-barstock aluminum big bore and optionally long cylinders!
And thanks, Derek, for all the extra effort to gather that additional info!
