Being 6'3", 187 cm, I must admit I have been looking at other bikes for more comfort for me and the mrs on longer rides. Yesteday I test rode an Electra Ultra which seemed nice and comfy, but I was really disappointed when I rode it. Felt even more cramped than on my BA. Strange. My fantasy is pretty much down to zero so I need input what I can do to my sweet BA to make it more up to longer rides. Fire away lads!

...or give me a hint on another ride...

Taller seat with more setback? That would help lessen the angle of your knees. It may very well a one off custom option, but competent custom seat guys can do wonders, when they understand what you need.

get a Tiger!

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Custom seat work and optimal bar placement (riser or bar change) will go a long way...as will custom grips...does your bike have pegs or boards?

My worst leg cramp ever was on a 2013 Tiger 800...and the OEM seat sucked!

I was thinking of foot boards, but would a pair of those improve anything?

Foot board feet placement is before and under the controls, I thought you wanted to stretch out.

Bengt

Being of a similar height, I also wanted a couple of extra inches of leg room - unfortunately the position of the headers means this is not a simple task. I know some people have put spacers between the frame and the foot control bar (fcb) but I didn’t think this would be enough for what I wanted

I have tried having a fcb reversed and widened, but did not like the way this looked on the bike. (However I gave the fcb to Martin Boichat & he has used it so have a look at pictures of his bike.)Something else I looked at was getting aftermarket controls with a low level brake reservoir, but when I tried this with a custom made mounting bracket, I didn’t like the amount of flexing I was getting.

I have been using Kuryakyn switchblade foot-pegs for quite a few years, and they certainly help ease things - as well as the normal foot position, the heel support can be flicked out ( and in) while on the go, which changes the knee angle a bit. I can also rest the back of my legs on the peg itself which means that I can have straight, or slightly bent, legs if I twist them as well.

I have been using this, combined with the Pro-Tac backrest that Fast eddy sells, since just before we went to Italy without ant major issues.

Gook luck

Shaun.

Thank you all for your thoughts! I will look into them.
