Anyone got anything to share on that subject? I was looking at vans to convert into a small camper when going on surf trips around the island, but for the rest of the time, a van would be too big and fuel hungry for my needs. Then I stumbled onto the newer styles of roof top tents, encased in a fiberglass shell. Looks really cool and something I could add to my exixsting drive, meaning no need for a van! Starting at $3,000 in the US and around... $600 and up directly from the factory "a bit" north from here.

And if you get this thing, you're gonna put those 24 tweeters and 36 mid-ranges in there with four 24" woofs ? You gotta stop somewhere, sir. Hey, I has a idea- you should ride that Triumph !

Quite a few options referenced on 4x4 forums. None as low priced as you'll find locally. They all seem to follow the same basic formula. Add-a-rooms are common as are solar outdoor showers. Depends on what you plan to put it on top of...

I don't plan to add rooms (I've seen the pics), just keeping it simple. Weather is quite warm here, so a solar shower is not needed. I can just leave the water bottle outside to get warm water. This is my car at the moment.

Nope!
But we got a nature's alarm clock l last morning.
5.9 earthquake! I wonder how that would feel perched on the car! At least, no ceiling to fall!

I know it was actually done as an April fool joke but you could always develop one of these ....

I would have a number of concerns with that setup. 1. size. would it be long enough. 2. weight. How much weight could you put on it. (I'm a big guy so always a concern.) 3. Why? What is wrong with just pitching a tent? 4. as someone already mentioned, hope you don't sleep walk or make midnight washroom trips.

Perhaps the bears in your neck of the woods are shorter the black ones near here would just consider it a challenge. With the ladder you two can pretend you are eloping every night. That has to lead to something.
