Would Older Mouse Ears Mirrors fit a 2013 SM?

I bought some new wider length mirrors to hopefully see past my arms. This is what I have:

However, they still have me looking at my arms, even with adjustment. I am considering going to the older-style OEM "mouse ears" mirrors - I had these on my 2009 America and they gave me a good look to what was going on in back of me.

Has anyone tried the older mirrors on a newer America/Speedmaster? Is the fitment the same as now?

Thanks!

You must be a big fella then Lance, i would think the factory mouse ear ones would be worse then those above. Are you trying to use them as "rear view mirrors" like a cagers mirror? I never ride the middle of a lane i am always towards one side or the other of th elane which allows me to use the opposite mirror to detect rear traffic. Otherwise you could always mount a cheap rear view camera! :-)

I am a big fella...not tall, but round, kind of like the teapot nursery rhyme!

I am just thinking that the mouse ears are taller than what I have so I can see above my shoulders.

I like to see a bit of my arm/shoulder in the mirror. It tends to help me with my perception of my location.
Additionally, I always take a look see over the shoulder before changing lanes.
Check out some other brands at the local dealer, you could find a Yamaha etc to adapt that fits your need.

I agree - I look over my shoulder as well. Thanks for the Yamaha tip!

Appreciate the suggestion about bar end mirrors edmspeedmaster! I like the look of the traditional mirrors, but I am starting to warm up to the bar ends too!

I wonder if the length on the stems was different on older models. They should still work as controls are still the same.
The mirrors on your bike now are similar to the Yamaha mirrors that early model owners went to.
I also see a part of my arm in my mirrors and even with the bar ends on Karens bonny I get the same.
How much arm are you seeing and have you tried moving the mirrors stem out then adjusting the mirror in. This would actually give you a cross view effect that works very well.

Thanks Z! I'm going to try to do more adjusting of the mirrors - the nice thing about these are the can be moved up, although as they move up they pick up more of my shoulder. I'll have to do more experimenting with them and move them out.

Great find, I've been looking for an extender for years

Thanks Ryk - have used them on another bike. Was hoping I could just get the right mirrors so that I wouldn't have to do that. But, it's good that they are out there!

I have wide shoulders too, I have to keep my head on a swivel afore I change lanes.
