Paul O'neill TSO music built by a group may be an exception IMHO.

Reminds me of the old adage:
"A camel is a horse designed by committee."
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Wow this thread was locked then there are missing comments and its reopened. I think they make a pill for that.
my comments are gone too.
So I guess I will reiterate.
with some change because I searched a song from the girl there Beyonce, and well.........uh, I fail to understand any reason why she is famous. I guess now days being a nasty ****** is how its done.
As for Freddie there, he was a very talented and creative person who came to a tragic end. While I am not a fan of his work ( simple because it don't resonate with me ) Ya have to admit he was a skilled artist.
taste may vary buy talent and skill are unquestionable. he had it. She bot so much.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I am glad its open again too. It was derailed early and like most things momentum is hard to get back.
You are right Chad. I don't like Mozart either but figure he was kinda good a that music writing thing.

I remember Madonna didn't do a thing for me when I thought of talented. Then a long time ago they picked her to do a musical called Avita. I thought, what could they be thinking! I changed my mind about if she had talent or not after that movie. Keith is right about music by committee. Music has to have some heart put into it for me. Beyonce Knowles? huh So I searched this out to see if she could sing. Take a minute to listen. The last notes she hits and holds late in the song are amazing. I give her a wow! rating. Giving credence to Keith's thoughts on mass produced music productions and stuff written and performed by artist. Beyonce with her clothes on

Interesting what you said about Madonna, Ron. I felt the same way until Avita. "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" invokes a bit of a tear whenever I hear it.

There is no disputing that woman has the pipes its just what the committee/market has her doing as a hang on to the Destinys Child trio. When you hear her doing that Edda James tune you have to wonder why she sings all that other stuff....
could it be the $$$ ?

Oh yeah, its the money. Singing the other stuff that makes her money doesn't even tax her voice. She is so much more than what she does. But maybe what she does is what she likes. She has to be worth hundreds of millions by now.
To go back to Mercury he didn't have nearly the vocal range of a Beyonce but he was simply amazing. Queen broke down lots of doors. Tommy the rock opera, Flash Gordon, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another one bites the dust. We are the champions is now on a TV commercial in the NBA playoffs. Wow!
I always wonder will they be playing Beyonce hip hop songs 30 years from now?

I'd bet on Freddy and Queen for the long game but you never know Biancé could hit with an American classic and Rod Stewart might re-record it 20 years from now on his come back album.

Seriously? "Tommy" was written and performed by the Who. Probably 10-15 years before Queen existed.

Big deal! Roger Daulty was in "Litzomania", a cult classic. (OK it was only a cult classic for two weeks till audiences actually saw it, but what ever). For the sh-t we call art and the people that will do anything to be in the movies, Roger D. trumps both his old band and Queen and the Beatles and The Doors and etc., etc. etc............infinity>
