Dear Abby,
Once again I've overestimated my mechanical skills, maybe by a wide margin. Got everything apart, installed the potentially motor saving Safe Start device, got everything back together all the way down to adjusting the clutch cable juuuust right, filled the tank up with fresh fuel laced with a liberal dosage of Sea Foam, turned it over expecting the Epcos to come roaring to life, and......SCREECH, SCREECH.....WTF?? Obviously sumpin' ain't quite right. Sure am glad I just filled up with new oil. So, Abby, have you ever heard of such a thing?
Sincerely, Dee-scusted Doug

All you can do is disassemble and find the error.

Thanks Abby...reckon I knew the answer already...kinda sounding like some gears are not quite lined up in there.

Pulled everything apart again...looked ok inside...retracked all the steps to getting the gears aligned, made sure the wavy washer was in place, stuck it all back together again, and it fired right up. Whatever the problem was got fixed somehow. Score one for the dufuss...

Pretty cool...thanks. The install went fine, it was somewhere during the reassembly where I ran afoul.

This wouldn't even be a concern if Triumph would have put a kick start on the bikes.
