Didn't know there was one in the bike. I know there is one in the oil filter.

Could you give us a bit more? What's you're concern? Pressure too high or low? Why the question?

What is that, Brin? I never heard of that on our bikes.

yes we have an oil pressure release valve. it's either at the oil filter or right by it. i can't remember. it supposed to release at 80psi i think. i've been blowing out a good amount of mist from the breather. i definitely checked it when i had the motor apart. i was told by a triumph mechanic that the way you test it is to see if it the valve moves freely and is not stuck. it tested ok but i've been second guessing because of the amount of blowout from the breather and if i really get on the throttle my oil pressure gauge pushes over 80. the purpose of the valve is so you won't blow out your seals. i've been having to fill my oil to the very bottom of the oil viewing glass to not get so much blowout.

this could all be perfectly normal. i don't know. here's a link to a video i made that shows the valve here

wonderin if someone knows how to test it in the bike. problem is, you have to split the cases to get to it.

Just learnt new stuff. The pressure relief valve in my Pure One PL14612 filter, which has a rating of 12-18psi, has nothing to do with the oil pressure in the bike or the bike's relief valve which has a rating of 80psi. I thought it was a fail safe.

From another site:
The bypass valve in the filter senses the PRESSURE DROP from the inlet of the filter to the outlet of the filter. It has NOTHING to do with the oil pressure delivered by the oil pump.

If the inlet of the filter has 12 pounds MORE oil pressure than the outlet--indicating that the filter has plugged and is now restricting oil flow--the bypass valve opens.

Sorry about the pointless detour. Nothing to see here. Carry on.

Brin,
What motor build did you go up to again? You went bigger than a 904 right?

I did the high compression upgrade and I get a fair amount of oil into my canister. Not enough to make me overly concerned but more than I did pre HC.
Ive also noticed that I get more valve cover seepage than I did before. I attribute both to having a stronger motor.
That said... instead of using just a breather you may want to consider upgrading to an oil catch canister like this one:

I bought one a few years ago but I did not pay 185 for it. That price has gone way up. Mine also feeds in from the top and has a drain plug at the bottom with the breather filter at top. Im sure you could fab one up.
