Since buying my BA I've 'guided' one close friend to the purchase of a '99 TT Legend, and a second close friend has recently traded his '06 HD Softail Custom for a R3. Yet another bud is considering a Triumph when previously he was a solid HD guy. Anyone else had experiences such as these?

Wow, that's amazing. Why did the guy trade in his '06 HD Softtail Custom? Didn't he like it? That seems a little rash, unless he hated the Harley and was awe-struck by the R3. Just wunnerin'.

Really like the Softtail...just saw a R3 at a show and couldn't stop drooling. Next thing I hear is he made a trade. Now he's got a boatload of HD t-shirts to get rid of.

I'm still working on my buddy. He's a diehard Harley guy (although he does have a Norton Commando in need of restoration). Once he gets his chopper finished and sold, I might be able to nudge him in the direction of a TA or SM. A local Harley mechanic, the guy I have replace my tires, recently picked up an old Bonneville, so the tide is turning slowly.

You guys can not be serious. You want the Harley guys, RUBS, POSERS, snob no wavers, etc.. coming over to the Triumph marque. They ain't gonna get it. Just leave it alone. Whats a matter you, ya ain't gonna be happy til we have a parking lot full of Triumph posers, everybody wearing a half helmet and flamed du rag. Dealers charging $4000.00 over list, and a waiting list to get a bike. LEAVE IT THE ---- ALONE. Vegas

We have a guy at work that is a die hard harley guy (he has owned them for the last 20 years or so, currently has a sportster and an Ultra Glide). The other day he rode to work and told me that he had a real bike out in the parking lot and would appreciate it if I didn't drool on it. So, I responded with, "So you finally got yourself a Triumph". He smiled and walked away. Needless to say he rode the Sportster to work that day. That stuff has been going on between he and I for a long time. It's all in fun. He does admit that if he didn't ride a hog he would be riding Triumphs.

Now, now Vegas. Not trying to replace the HD 'personna' with the Triumph banner, just trying to enlighten some buds to the realization that Triumph builds some ****** fine machines.

Me for starters. If my neighbor across the street had some extra cash, I think he would get a Triumph. There are now 2 other Triumph riders where I work, can't tell if it was because of mine or not though.

The group I ride with have changed from plastic bikes to naked musckle bikes mostly. One guy nearly went for the bonneville but still felt its got an old mans image. I recon he might have gone down the speedmaster route if I didn't already have one.
hmmm funny line to follow

Oh come on there Vegas!
It's worth every freakin' second of one's time watchin' a dyed-in-the-wool Harley rider get showered with that bright white light from the heavens and hearing that invisible chorus hit that A-flat in unison!!!!
What's wrong with you, buddy?!!
Have you NO spirituality left in that cold dead soul of yours???

I don't want to convert all my Harley friends. It's fun riding with them. I love the look on their faces when the Triumph draws all the attention. So many folks still don't know that Triumph is back. I had a guy in Daytona say "Nice restoration, I love the old Triumph twins". I didn't have the heart to correct him. My brother Rick was laughing his butt off.

The Hardley boys can buy all the Triumphs they want, but they can never become a BA.com member. The screening process that is involved in joing this group will weed them out. That is why the Administrator and Moderators are paid so well, I think. TR

Most old school Harley riders(read over 50) appreciate Triumphs because they all owned one some time in their past. They fondly remember Triumph. You aren't going to convert those guys but they don't turn up their nose at Triumph. Most people who ride don't even know the Harley, Triumph, Norton, BSA, ect history.

BUT, isn't it reasonable to believe that they would give up their evil, posing, trailering ways if they had a bike that was nice to actually ride and nothing to be ashamed to be seen on?

Today one of my coworkers (just a cager, not a rider) told me he saw a Harley in the parking lot and thought I came to my senses. Without missing a beat I told him, "Naw, I don't want to trade down."

I've converted no one, but a lot of my local fellow riders are jealous. I see the look in their eyes, you know that look: "I wish I'd have followed my heart instead of my head" look. I love to see that look. I chose to "Go My Own Way" (original, huh?) and many in our area wish they'd have followed. I ain't gloting, but I love it.

There is this other guy at work that doesnt ride, but once in a while he asks me if I rode my harly to work, knowing that it is a Triumph. He does it on purpose. Actually its pretty funny. He started doing that after overhearing one of the gals at work say that she calls all motorcycles harleys.

Still drives me crazy when a few of the cager jackasses in my office ask with a sly grin, "Did you ride your bike today?" when there's 6 inches of snow on the ground.

Oddly enough, I don't really want to convert anyone. I like the fact that my bike is special, and if everyone rode one, it would become Harleyesque in its ubiquity. No, I just let people admire and envy it, hoping that that's all they'll do Siggy
If life wasn't so pointless and absurd, I would take it more seriously.

I was gonna post this in a new thread but here seems as good as anywhere....
Due to an accident at work, I couldn't ride my bike home last night (I've got badly bruised and swollen knees). I didn't want to leave her at work. I phoned a mate who has a Harley and asked him to ride her home for me. He's said before he thought she was smart looking. Every other biker I know rides something plastic and so I wouldn't trust them riding my beloved home. I wasn't happy about someone riding my bike anyway but I wouldn't have slept if she'd stayed at work.
Now the point...
He said that she was a nice ride and would have had one...if he didn't have a Harley!!! Nearly converted!!! However I like having the only TA in Bristol and no slow Speedmasters!

03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

I know several people that are like that. They say that if they knew about our bikes (or even know that Triumph still existed) and hadn't already had their cash tied up in the bikes that they already had (mostly Sportster owners), they would have gotten one.
