At first I thought my rear brakes were too sensitive, but now it seems the wheel locks up even when down shifting strongly as well. It there a problem with the stock tire of what is the issue here?

Anybody knows the answer to this?

Maybe the bearings? Not sure with so little info, not even a year or model.

If your skidding the rear in a downshift, you have some sweet compression.

No offense or anything, but it could be operator error.

Yup, if your rear wheel is locking up on a downshift, methinks you're dropping down way too many gears and dumping the clutch too fast.

I agree if only on downshift. Bearings would have to be really bad to lock the wheel and if they were that bad they wouldn't keep freeing up they would seize and stay that way probably damaging the wheel.

Do you have a tach onboard? Are you downshifting too many gears?

What type of road conditions do you have? Can you spin out on hard acceleration? What kind of rear tire do you have, condition?

Scratching here

I had the rear wheel lock up on me once. Turned out to be a laptop computer stuck between the fender and the tire.
Moments later I realized it was my laptop computer, now somewhat bent.

Does the wheel spin freely? Is it only locking up on braking and/or downshifting? Our binders are not so hot. Matter of fact they barely get the job done. Locking up the rear wheel by downshifting is an age old issue solved by slipper clutches (or being mellow on the downshifts )

One other thing, just in case, make sure you check the rear brake plunger (the rod) make sure it is not set up to high, sometimes when the rotors get hot and expand they will move closer to the pads thus less throw if any required on the rear brake. so if you are downshifting hard and on the rear brake even a little bit , it might only take a wee touch to lock those suckers up......ask me how i know this :-)

Possibly to much air pressure back there? Or a brand spanking new tire?
