I couldn't copy and paste the link using my iPad, but here's a description that will get you there. OK, ebay " Cree 1800 LM H4 50W motorcycle headlight " . Should be 49.98 free s&h, firstbuy_ store

I guess I was the guinea pig a while back.

These might help you guys decide if they are worth it.
It got me in some trouble as the DMV inspection guy thought the LED was too bright!

Taken from my thread on the cree leds, I set my camera at fixed f-stop and speed so the camera would adjust to the different light conditions. Also, the road was wet so it is a bit darker than a dry road...here's the result:

With original H4 filament bulb.

Here's the LED output, same camera settings.
You'll see the background intensity didn't change, but the white car is a bit more visible!
You can barely see the shadow that the car casts from the light post in the previous picture.

Well bummer. I suppose you could put the stock bucket back or just recover your losses in the "classifieds". Some body will buy the thing I'm sure.

Wade

I know some guys are running the same type of headlight as I do http://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/p2717/buy/...gen-headlight-/ So just wanted to let them know it will not fit in the bucket...I am going to get a different bucket or I could mount "black box" some where else

That one looks different, the Cree has an aluminum housing, that one says 25w where the Cree is a 50w.
Just thinkin'

Hey! That alley (which looks dreary because of the rain that day) is my house lane.

Nothing but good folks on that lane.

The special fx lighting comes from the switch in our little village from regular yellowish lightposts to LED lightposts.

It should be this one:

One blub
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Motorcycle-Bi...d11&vxp=mtr

Two blub
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Motorcycle-Bi...d11&vxp=mtr

Seems like pricing is all over the place...

Just so I am clear, all we would need is one of the below units/bulbs?
Roughly plug and play, but make sure there is room in the pot/bucket for the ballast, which is normally no problem. Correct?

Correct.
Too easy, the LED tower thing with the cooling fan just pops into the hole where the old bulb goes and the black box and wires goes into the interstitial space in the bucket. Plenty of room.

I tried this mod. The black control box got very hot, smoked and then blew my headlight fuse. I contacted the seller who sent me a replacment. I had the same issue with the replacement. Any thoughts?

Was it a Cree branded unit ? There are others out there.

That's odd, two in a row ? I'm assuming you have the correct amp fuse on that circuit. If the things were made in USA they would be a heap better.

Well it seems I got my mod working. I got a refund for the CREE LED and bought this.

http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/3600-Lumen-H4-H6M-LED-Headlight-bulb-_p_83.html
(no rectifier)

So far it has been working. It has a total of 3 LED's. 2 are on all the time, and 1 is added for the brights. It has no "black box" to store, but the fan is a bit larger. It is a direct fit plug and play.

3 LED's? different design, but looks alright, especially if it's working for you! The stem looks a bit shorter, which could be a good thing. Mine, the stem is a bit longer and throws the light a bit wildly compared to an halogen bulb.

Must have been interesting to try and fit that big fan housing through the hole though!

You dont fit the fan in the hole. The fan sits on tge pod, just like tge 1st light mentioned.
