Does anyone know of any way to mount highway pegs to a TBA without the engine dresser bar? I saw these pegs on the Kuryakyn site as well as these and others of the sort. Does anyone know of any peg-mounted or body-mounted highway pegs that'll fit us?

Only thing I can tell you is to measure the frame downtube diameter, OR I guess you could mount them to the foot control bar with some sort of arm to get them in front of and to the right of the pipes... Right? Just brainstormin...

Hey Mark, I fabricated some custom highway bars for my 03 America. I used some 3/4" tobacco twist rebar to make mine. They have brackets that attach where the down tubes bolts are located. It was kinda of tricky getting it the right spacing when welding them but came out looking fine. Basically its a bar that runs across the front of the down tubes with brackets that attach to the inside of the down tubes. If you go this route you will need to find longer bolts which was unavailable in my area and I had to order them from the net from some company in Colorado that escapes me at the present time. I wanted some sort of highway pegs so I could change my riding position on long rides and all day trips. From previous experience and several back operations I need to alter my riding postition from the regular pegs, to highway bar and rear pegs during 300 to 500 riding days. The only drawback that I can see is the placement of these bars are not good for anyone who is short. I am 5'11" and they seem to work fine for me but a buddy of mine who is about 5'6" says that they are too for forward for his taste. I need to take some pictures and post them so all can view. If you need any help just ask I will gladly help you with any info you need. Dennis

exactly!
But I found these for...yes...you guessed it...Hardleys.
I wonder if there could be any way of modifying them to fit ours. I'd love to try, but $180 is a little pricy for me just to experiment with.

I've been looking at these. It appears you could adjust to get around the downtube - header clearance issues, but I haven't ordered them yet. http://www.granpas.com/HighwayBar.htmJH

Those custom "Granpas" bars look a little pricey. Does any have the Triumph Chrome Dresser Bar? Can you put Hi-way Pegs on that dresser bar? That place in Ga near CHY has the Engine Bar for $136 (Cowetacustomcycles.com), Triumph wants $160.Any info??? Steve

Don't you just love it! On the grandpas site they list all the HD's that it fits, then down at the bottom of the page is this: "ALL BIKES WILL HAVE TO CHECK TO SEE IF BAR NEEDS TO BE REMOVED BEFORE TRAILERING"

You're right ($$), I've also been looking at the ones Litzerski posted from J&P, I guess that's part of the reason I'm draggin my heels on this project. It appears to me the angled type where you can fit to the downtubes above the headers would be easier than a straight set, in which case you'd have to fabricate something to move them out??
One of these days, I'll forge ahead.

Are those universal hi-way bars or are they pegs attached to your engine crash bars? I couldn't get a closeup of your bike. they look like they'd work thou.

Mark,
The part you pictured is the one I was looking at, JP also lists a part# 360-161, but they appear too short and would take alteration. MC Enterprises website has a few old style bars, but again attachment points would take work. Actually I have a neighbor who has a set of old straight spiral chrome bars. With some imagination (and a friend with a full metal shop), they might be adaptable??

Steve, I have the OEM engine dresser bars. The pegs are from Kuryakyn, I can’t remember the part number. I will see if I can figure it out if you are interested. I also will get a better photo tomorrow and post.

Thanks Jack, I'm leaning more towards the Triumph bars, they don't stick out as far and they don't take away from the looks of the bike. Their only purpose is to protect the engine. If the Kuryakan pegs fit the bars I'll check them out on J & P Cycle. I'll watch for your post when you find the part number. Thanks again for the Info. Steve

Steve, I have looked again at the Küryakyn site. It looks like the pegs I have are part number 4509. They have the same setup with the smaller pegs also

Steve, For long trips they give you a different sitting position with your feet on the pegs. I also stretch my legs straight out resting my calves on the pegs. It really helps out on those 500+ mile days. For me they make a big difference. When folded up, they are out of the way and look pretty clean.

Charles I found some quick clamps at Kuryakyn that might help you out. 1.5†part number 101. Link below, kind of expensive, but what isn't when buying goodies for our bikes! Quick Clamps

Anyone know if these will be adaptable for our bikes? Here's a link to the product page.I'm a little fuzzy...would they go where our normal control pegs are? Or are they highway pegs or passenger pegs? Hmmm...

I would imagine with the triumph adaptors, just about any of the pegs are adaptable.

I bet if someon with Kuryakyn pegs were to look at that pic they might be able to tell if the Triumph adaptors fit. I really want some switchblades, but there's a few things higher up on the list...

Yeah...the switchblades appealed to me as well, but I REALLY want something further ahead for my feet...3 inches as Kuryakyn claims for the Swingwing should be perfect.

They do look sweet. Sort of like a reverse switchblade. Best of both worlds.
