My '06 BA is coming up for new chain & sprockets. Just wondering if readers here go for OEM or after market stuff. Are there better brands & other brands we shouldn't go near?
Thanks John Quinnell

The OEM chain and sprockets are good quality. I'd have no reservations about going with them. The sprocket and chain set usually goes for around $200 bucks from Triumph.
As an aside, I went 38,000 kms on my original chain. Replaced it with a better quality 525ZVMX DID chain. Did not replace the rear sprocket, only the front which was showing some wear. Have 58,000 kms on this one now with little stretch and minimal wear.
Oh, I would stay away from any kind of aluminum sprocket. Stick with steel.

Fast Eddy Sports has everything you may need. That is if he ships to Australia. Yes! steel sprockets, aluminum will hook way too fast.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

eddy won't even sell the aluminum sprockets anymore, they suck that much
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Just ordered a set of JT sprockets (17/42) and their x-ring chain through Amazon. $102.00 with free shipping. I'll post a follow-up when I get them all put on and let you know what I think.

Is it necessary to lubricate (spray wax) an X-ring chain?

I say no, The seals keep the lube out. I had 23,000 or more on my last one when I changed it and I never lubed it. The rear sprocket showed no visible wear and the front only slight wear. I have the set hanging on my shed wall, I could put them back on and probably get another 10,000 or more out of them.
I think on the X-ring lube promotes wear by giving dirt something to stick to causing abrasion.

So X's and O's are just a different configuration of the seal to keep the lube inside and the dirt out and at least three in a row you win.
This is probably redundant as I am sure its in one or two threads from earlier.... What do you use one the outside of the chain to keep rust off and lubricate between the links if that is even necessary?

I don't put anything on my chain. The X-Ring has 2 ribs that seal making 2 sealing surfaces, the O-ring just one.
