I did not right this but again ..I agree with it.. I read this all the time "looks too much like a Harley" People want a big bike, a cruiser, better preforming than an HD but something that can stand side by side with and HD, windshields, bags, fairings maybe, "just don't make it look like a Harley" think outside the box, something different. Well guess what Victory did that already and a lot of people just don't like the design, Vision comes to mind? There is only so much you can do with the platform without making some garish design. Since HD "like it or not" has set the standard for big ole cruisers everything that comes along will be compared to them, that's just the way it is. Lot's of Triumph owners don't like the 2010-2013 birds because "they look like a fat boy" It is what it is. Additionally I see a few complaining about the new pipes, there's a reason Triumph is making a change there. It's called customer feedback, and the feed back from guys I know who have passed on the bird is "I just cant get past the look of the pipes" I realize pipes are one of the first things people change but if it's affecting initials sales manufacturing looks to makes changes. Some people have a difficult time accepting change and we can go on and on back and forth about the new bikes but the fact is most of us have yet to see one, set on it, drool over, touch them, see the new sparkles. Let's just embrace the fact the bird was not discontinued and Triumph felt strong enough about the platform to now make 4 models. I think it's great, it's what HD does, it's what Victory does, one drive train with several different bikes as options. Smart, very smart. Again I assure you Mr. Bloor and his team have done their homework. Ed remember they all said the same thing about the the TBA & speedy when they first came out..it looks like a HD..

I'll stand by what I said.Triumph could have used some originality and not followed the "harley look" front end, mudguards, mufflers that all the makers have. Use some styling on the front end for example. Most everyone has those harley type cowlings and that style of front mudguard. Shape it differently show more front tyre,Victory and star do different looking headlights why not Triumph? They could have had the bonneville look headlight, gaiters on the forks. There are small driving lights these days that do just as good a job as those big ones fitted.etc.etc.
To paraphrase Mr.Brando, "They coulda BEEN somebody! They coulda been a CONTENDER! Anyway, that's my "2 cents worth" as you say.

"Since HD "like it or not" has set the standard for big ole cruisers everything that comes along will be compared to them, that's just the way it is." quote I don't think so.The rocket came out and killed that notion IMO.The new Guzzi California does it different too.
"remember they all said the same thing about the the TBA & speedy when they first came out..it looks like a HD.." Quote
IMO they could have made changes to the America front end.too The guys that took the shrouds off and put gaiters on did it right, again IMO.
Anyway I've said my thoughts. I'm not going to fight about it.I'll leave it at that.

Americas are far from luxury. I love mine but the word luxury dont apply. More like pragmatic. So its a PT cruiser. Lol.

Until they "fix" the tank, I have no interest in it. Hurts my feelings each year, when I don't see a Triumph tank on those bikes.

Yeah, well, I suppose...that is IF ya don't really care about havin' a CLASSIC LOOKING motorcycle under ya while you're easily making those passing maneuvers out there!

It was actually more about comfort for me. When it was harder to get off the damn floor from cleaning the "classic bike" for two hours than it was riding it, I gave up. It took a few years to get used to the look, then I jumped. I blame Mark Litz who used to be around these parts. I miss him and many others, but that is another story for another thread....

Actually Ryan, I know what you mean about the whole "comfort" thing here. Besides the whole idea that a "Classic" looking machine almost demands more "cleaning time" and that "Dual-Purpose" bikes in a way demand less cleaning time(more plastic, less brightwork), the "comfort factor" also comes into play here in another regard.
You might know that a few years ago I moved the foot controls on my '02 BA back to where "Standard" style motorcycles are located, and my lower back has felt a whole lot better since doing that, and of course most likely because of not having to sit on my tailbone Cruiser style AND because of being able to now use a little more of my legs as "shock absorbers" over rougher tarmac.
Plus, while I'm tackling the twisties around here, having my feet underneath me and not out there in front, just makes the whole process feel not only more natural, but also makes me feel like I'm "attached" to the bike a little more while "throwing" the bike into the turns.

I do recall this. Good move. If you had a newer tank, I don't know how that would work. Biggest thing wth the Tigger is how top heavy it is. Doesn't seem natural at low speeds, but once it is up and purring, look out.
Of course, like I said, this all from memory, since I haven't been riding much. I need Moe, tcv, and erle to get me motivated, since my local options aren't riding much.

Yesterday, I got to meet a guy picking up his brand new Speedmaster. The paint was awesome...unfortunately he had to have a buddy take it home for him. [image] [/image]

I'm a little late to the party as usual. But whats up with the fuel efficiency these newer models are boasting?
Trophy SE 69.2MPG @ 56Mph/ 54.5MPG @ 75Mph TEX 68MPG @ 56Mph Speedmaster 71.1MPG @ 56Mph/ 55.5MPG @ 75Mph Rocket III touring 51.9MPG @ 56Mph/ 41.9MPG @ 75Mph
I know these are not real world figures but still very impressive if somewhat close to true.

Fuel injected bikes with slightly different sprocket set up, stock pipes, slightly lean mapping, flat ground (or slightly downhill), the MPG numbers make sense.

Yep,I just checked mine I'm getting 43-48 miles per US gallon or about 48-55 per imperial gallon depending how hard I ride it,on my 2007 America with carbs, pipes, air filter, jets and 1 shim on the needles.

I averaged 56 miles per US gallon on tour, level terrain, 75mph but with full touring load. My normal short trips round town aggressive throttle I average 40 mpg US.

Yep I think the fuel injected bikes normally do a bit better than the carbs.Especially if it's been been tweaked a bit.

My '02 with a 904 Big Bore Kit (on the bike when I bought her) averages 42 MPG (US)
Although the designated touring motorcycles have plenty of electronics, info-tainment, GPS, and other such additions, I do not feel I am missing anything.
I-pod w/ ear buds, (if i feel the need for tunes) road atlas, and I'm good to go.
Sometimes I wish for more range, but after 135 miles, mas'a mino, my dairy-aire is ready for a break.
