So today at work I uncrated 14 bikes. One being a Speedy that's all blacked out, even the cheese graters. Also the new America LT, even though it's just a regular America with touring ****** already on it. Some really cool colors out on all the twins. The Bonneville Black is also real nice with blacked out touches, including the wheels and fender stay. It's a T100 so it has the spoked wheels. Just wanted to share my fun day.

2008 Speedy, AI removed, DIY airbox destruction with K&N filters, spectres, re-jetted and "custom" rattle can paint job.

I'll be goin' to the Phoenix Progressive Int'l Motorcycle Show this Sunday. Hopefully Triumph will have a major presence there so I can see their 2014 lineup in person.

Will all the Progressives be there?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Good one, Larry!!!

(...and no, I'm PRETTY sure politics doesn't come into the picture here...and so YOU would probably find that show a little boring!)

It's a harley clone with a t-bird engine. It does look good[better than a harley] I agree but they could have stamped a little more Triumph on it and a little less harley. The front end for instance.Gaiters instead fork shrouds maybe do something instead of the harley headlight cowl. The guards and mufflers are straight from harley.Just my opinion.

I like it too, except for the fenders. Something about it looks familiar, can't put my finger on it...

I see they've accentuated the fins on the barrels instead of the matt black they were.

I totally agree. The reasons stated are just ONE of two (money being the other ) that I haven't gone out and bought one yet! But I'll waffle a little and admit that it is a decent looking bike and the power is really cool. No way that my America's looks aren't vastly superior though.

just what is the America LT? Light tourer? omfg.

Here is Cinnamon Girl aka America HT, lost in Illinois (close to an intersection that reminded me of 'Stop' Andrew Wyeth) September 12, 2010.

Light tourer?

f u triumph.

Again 2010 this time at Bear Tooth Pass MONTANA (Yes from the Space Coast FL)

Light tourer?
Bite me triumph

But wait, let's try instead of a 2002 model year say one of the narrow steering stop carbed bikes: Prudence a 2007. LT? Sod off triumph and Mr. Hardely: Greg Heichelbech.

Well, my friends, since 2004 when I first found this site, folks have been wanting big engines and touring capability in a Triumph made motorcycle. There was whining, gnashing of teeth, and many, many beautifully and purposely self creations of that very theme. Guess what - when you put together all the components of what people say they want - this is what you get. If you say you want a motorcycle that has the seating arrangement and storage arrangement that would ideally would work on a low slung motorcycle, copious amounts of chrome, dabs of ornamentation, and maybe some white walls - this is what you get. You see, it's not just Harley cloning, its also genetic engineering - the sum of all that people said they wanted. And that's, in part, why they all look like they do - even the Harleys themselves. To further wear out an adage -It is what it is.

I would also add to that, that I am of the opinion Triumph has done an excellent job of giving those who have asked just what they've asked for.

Very well put pipedr. When Triumph uses a Road King as their target what do you expect? Besides they already did this. It is just a 2010 Thunderbird SE with a Harley saddle, pipes and fenders. Oh yeah the cost will probably be about $5,000 more.

Brand new bike. I think not.

Yep Jim, it IS truly impressive that you've travel all those long distances on Cinnamon Girl and on your other BAs in your stable.

Just one question here though: Weren't there at least a FEW times while you were passing a few cars and/or long trucks on a stretch of two-lane blacktop and with all that gear on it, you thought to yourself somethin' like..."Geee, I sure wish I had about 25% more passing power than what my STOCK-engine BA is giving me at this moment." ???

(...and IF ya did, was it JUST about the time that you got halfway past those lines of cars or those long trucks and when you suddenly noticed a car comin' toward you in the opposite direction?)

And so Barry, because of the question I just posed to Jim above here, I can't say that Triumph has been COMPLETELY proficient in supplying the product that their customers have always wished for.

Because, the boys in Hinckley could have readily AND easily provided a FACTORY-built Bonneville line and as we know of it, with the more "classically" beautifully styled engine than the T-Bird's and in the 1000cc-1200cc range to the public for many many years now...but they never did.

Where there any of those 'oh sheet' moments, I sure don't recall them. Try to never pass without at least a hole shot somewhere. Somewhere out of the wrong lane that is. Seems like most cagers don't anticipate hard accelerations so one can almost always find a hole. Yes, even with our (some say) underpowered 790/865s. Hum, seems like this aggressive riding doesn't work to well when ya have several riding companions. (the hole just isn't big enough). And yes our rides do have ample acceleration. Upon further reflection, I have to say that at least Triumph corporate has at least acknowledged that the America is a tourer, albeit however they qualify such designation. Maybe due to a 250/300cc thumper on the horizon? Made exclusively in India?

Boiling down touring vis-a-vis motorcycle size imho touring reduces to buttocks as the common denominator. No matter how large the displacement, how large the frame, how audacious the itinerary, if one cannot sit on a motorsickle for at least 10 hours, cross country touring will remain a dream. After a long day, isn't 500lbs easier to flick than 700?

Seems like the America LT is simple a ploy to sell more windscreens and saddlebags. Seems like corporate considers windscreens a touring accoutrement.

Maybe I'm thinking too kindly of them but maybe that's what triumph *means* by Light Touring.

Folks have compared my bike to a Road King (as in why didn't you just get a RK?) I call it my right-sized Road King.

It'll run with them in the straights, leave them in the twisties (such as there are around here ) and I'm not worn out at the end.

Yep Dwight. We've both said this before a 1000-1200cc America-Speedmaster would be perfect but probably take sales from the T bird.

The front end was lighter of course but not so much that things got out of hand. Leaning 'er over on the kickstand was a different story!

Triumph shold be a little more creative and a little less generic.IMO

I did not right this but agree with it..

IMO,the Tbird looks NOTHING like the Harley. The HD,along with the Victory, the Indian, and many of the Jap cruisers, use a V TWIN motor, while the Tbird STILL uses a parallel twin motor. Now unless I'm blind, there really is no strong resemblance between the Tbird and the its competitors due to that motor design. As for the bags, windscreen, trunk, etc.,most guys who have been riding for a long time, perfer that set up because they wanna travel comfortably, [not play squirrel at every intersection, ] and have the room to carry essential items with em on that trip.Follow me?? OK!!
