Refitting the camshaft cover seal to the camshaft cover and it does not fit as snug in the groove as it once did. was thinking about using wheel bearing grease to keep in place during reinstallation of the camshaft cover. any negative thoughs on this ideal?

Yeah it's fast. It's blue and it has flames.

I would suggest using RTV to put it back into the cam cover. Let it set. I know it took me fifteen tries to get it all lined up before I finally figured that out. Made it a heck of a lot easier.

Years ago at the VW dealership where I worked, we used NAPA (Martin-Senour) weatherstrip cement to glue on those pesky air cooled valve cover gaskets into the Beetle valve cover, so they'd not leak.

This is a much neater way to glue than with RTV.

Oh, the glue is a honey color, not that "yellow snot".

I used the bearing grease the only think I was worried about was any excess dripping down and mixing with the snyth oil.
