Anyone running this? Same concept as the Windvest, but $199 not $375. Looks ****** nice. Unless I hear otherwise I'm going for the Solo Shield and the Corbin Solo!

You saw that the $199 price isn't quick detach right?..$60 extra for that feature. I kinda like the LowWider one

Yeah I figure they mount on the handlebars and shouldn't be too hard to take off when they need to be. I set a budget at $500 so I'm looking at the soloshield and a new Corbin solo seat. Should be pretty nice.

Looks like our speedometers might impede mounting. May want to ask the question before committing.

Checked with them. SHould be fine, the come with an extension specifically for bikes with guages. They even have a new version for bikes with two guages up front. Worst case I can always ebay it if it doesn't work for and make it a total loss.

Just reading through some threads trying to make up my mind about windshields (getting rid of my Memphis Shades sometime). Still leaning towards Clearshield with some brackets I will need to configure..
anyway...
Anyone ever install these Rifles? Wide or normal?

Decisons, decisions. I like the Windvest but will have to consider these.

A good friend rides with a Solo Shield. It is a high quality item and like you say, half the price of a Windvest. I have two Windvests and swear by them. And, did I mention I am broke.

Are you supposed to see OVER or THROUGH a Windvest (or any windshield), and how do you know which height to get?

You want to look over the top of the windshield. Otherwise you are blinded in a rain. The wind will whip up several inches above the top of the windshield and go over your helmet if the shield is the right height.
I think the Windvest and Solo Shield come in one size only, 16 inches. I would order a winshield in the 16-19 inch range.

I bought a Viper Slipstreamer, had it on for 1 day. Wind would come over the top and it felt like someone had hold of my helmet and was shaking it violently.

The 16" Windvest has a "ducktail" at the top which flips the wind over the helmet. It is an effective design, although one's face is above the top of the windshield the wind goes over the top of the helmet.

Yeah, that's alright. Such a quandary; Clearview replacement shield with homemade brackets or the Rifle Lowwider (concerned it may not fit since I have Handlebar risers). Guess I have a few winter months to figure it out.
I've been riding lately with no shield and stock whisper quiet exhausts back on and OOOOHHHH it is so SMOOTH.. LOVE IT!!!
