Hey guys and gals. Since I ride a lot at night I was thinking of putting a light bar on my 2006 America. Any suggestions as to which look and work best and where did you get them?
'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

Well Bruce, ya goin' for the unobtrusive functionality of those wee LED pod thingies or do ya want the aesthetic big chrome lightbar look as with the stock Triumph lightbar?
I am on a similar path as yourself, a journey of enlightenment.

The old fashion style is my taste, not really into the LED stuff.

Then I'd start checking the classifieds and Ebay for the stock Triumph lightbar, it's on the path of easy, plug n play factory stuff.
Just looked on Ebay - two for 306.00 and 316.00. OUCH.

Bruce, you may want to start with a better headlamp / reflector if your still running the OEM unit. I used to leave for work in the dark of the morning and felt I needed more light. Got the Triumph light bar and it worked but I never got used to the big image I saw when looking at the bike in a parking lot. I went to a better headlamp and took the bar off. (sold it to a member here not too long ago) I get a good field of view with just a quality headlamp these days. If you still need more lighting do check out the LED units. Lot's of light and a smaller package. If the Triumph light bar is what your after, they are well made and work well when aimed correctly. Mine were not from the dealer installation and I did experience some road rage from one car I was behind Amazing but they worked even better when aimed at the road

IMO the best looking lightbar is a narrowed Triumph OEM with P-clamp mounts for the lights. There's a least 1 pic of mine with that setup posted on here somewhere.

If'n more light was what you are after, I would go with a better headlight to start.

Don't rule out the LED stuff. It's brighter and draws less wattage... what's not to like!
There are H4 LED bulbs now that are really nice (check out what I wrote about the Cree LED H4) and add a couple of running lights to a lightbar and your evening rides will be completely different!

Look at this post to see some pics of the Kuryakyn Silver Bullets I mounted on my bike. I replaced the 20 watt bulbs with 50 watt narrow beam waterproof ones. Got rid of the lens since the bulbs came with them. Driving Lights

I sure like that set up you have there, Greg. I too went a different way than the OEM lightbar. Here's mine... flat aluminum bars for mounting and RIVCO high/low beam lights.
Live to love, love to live.

OK, I'm on the way to seeing at night, got the Cree LED headlight "bulb" Jeff over in Taiwan suggested, and got a pair of Kuryakyn Silver Bullets with clamps like Greg up in Canada has. ( Nice to be emulated, ain't it guys! ) I want to switch the driving lights without a relay, LED's go in those as well. Does anyone have intel for a bright LED for the Silver Bullets ? Thank you, Enlightened Ones.

I should have 'em in a few days, I'll see what kind of socket and bulb they have.

The standard bulbs are 20 watt M16 halogens. They make a difference but have a fairly wide pattern. They really help you to be seen in the daylight and put a fair amount of light on the road but you can do better.
I opted for the 50 watt EXT/CG 15 degree spot GE bulbs. Narrow beam puts more light down the road. I have them hooked up to the high beams. They do generate a lot of heat so I had to remove the Kuryakyn clear lenses (fogged up) The GE bulbs come with their own lenses. You will have to add a large "O" ring to replace the removed lens. I've run this setup for 2 summers.
If you fellows find a M16 high output narrow beam LED bulb for these, I'm interested.

Greg, these folks have a LOT of LED comversions, they may have the M16's http://www.hero-ledstore.com/led-light-bulb-mr16-c-1_16.htmlLook at the reply below, they have a 75 watt equivalent with a 15 degree, 60W, 50W, bunches of 'em.
