I know we have a few pickers and grinners 'round these parts. So I thought I'd start a thread about guitars. Whatcha got, maybe whatcha had and want. I still got my very first one. A 1979 Epiphone Genisis, I also have a mid 90's 69 RI Thinline Tele, a Oscar Schmidt 12 string Acoustic/Electric and just bought (2 days ago) a brand spank'n new Fender Sonoran Wildwood IV (A/E).

There have been several others along the way, but the one I miss the most and regret selling was a 93 American Strat Plus, prolly one of the sweetest instruments I ever owned. So, once I free up some more spending $$ it's time for a new (or old) Strat to add to my collection.

For those who appreciate electric guitars take a look at the following website:

www.biltguitars.com

These are custom electrics individually hand built by my son and his partner in Des Moines, Iowa.

Enjoy

Okay here's my list:
My first guitar (1968) was a Japanese electric that looked quite like a Gibson 335.It came with a small Kay amp which I still have. The guitar self destructed in about six months literally.
Second on the list is my beloved Hagstrom 3 (1969) in Robins egg blue.Back around 1971 I decided it needed two humbucker pickups rather than the 3 single coils.About twenty years later I remodeled it again with 3 single coils and a nice new pickguard. Still have it, including the hang tags and original bill of sale. It's been played so much in the "A" position it actually has ruts in the neck, but the neck is still straight as an arrow, far exceeding Hagstrom's ten year neck guarantee.
Next would be my Jay Turser 335 knockoff in tobacco sunburst.Yeah I know it's made in China but a fine instrument for the money.
Another Jay Turser, they call The Delta Lady, kinda a cross between a Tele and a Les Paul in Green quilt top. They don't make this one anymore as far as I know and with all the interest in off brand guitars I'll keep this one.
Next is my MIM 60th anniversary model Fender Strat.First guitar I've owned with a maple neck.
My acoustic is a 1974 Guild Jumbo.I bought this guitar in 1994 as new.The guitar sat in storage for twenty years due to a legal battle between the children of the music store's owners who died in a car accident.I originally went to purchase an Ovation guitar, however the salesman pointed to the Guild and told me if I played it I would buy it.He was right! He also told me if I ever wanted to sell it he would buy it back full price.Ain't gonna happen.
Lastly I have my Grandfather's pre war Gretsch Electromatic.
There have been a few more but not worth mentioning except for and old Stella acoustic that I painted red white and blue way before Buck Owens did.Still have this one too. This was my beater guitar the one that went camping,to the beach etc.

Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

I've had a few but what I have now I am sooo happy with. I have a:

- Yamaha acoustic/electric A3M. Solid wood construction... absolutely brilliant sound.
- Simon and Patric acoustic. Added in-hole pickup
- Art Luthier 12 sting acoustic. Added in-hole pickup
- Martin & Co. backpacker's guitar.
- Yamaha silent electric classical. This is the one with just the outline of a body. Absolutely amazing sound.
- Godin LG electric
- Hagstrom bass guitar

Other string instruments I have are a:
- Charango
- Mandoline
- Ukulele
- Dulcimer

I think that's about it...

I'm not exactly sure about the extra hardware. I just did a google search and the image popped up, but on the site the guy says it's a "timara string bender" that he installed. I'm guessing sorta like a tremlo system or sump'n.

That Yamaha is crazy looking. It like to try it out sometime. Btw you did in fact forget something, how but that piano, hmm, it's got strings, or is it percussion? Maybe we should see what Jeff has to say.

Oh yeah, my piano. Technically it's not a stringed instrument because it's electric but I have a Yamaha Portable Grand as they call it. I absolutely love it!!!!!

I suspect that's a homemade take on the Parsons-White string bender. Back in the late 60s Clarence and Gene cut up a couple of telecasters and installed a complicated linkage that when attached to your belt would bend the B when you pushed the neck downward and would bend the G when pushed the neck away. That way you could do impressive steel guitar like bends while playing a tele. AFAIK Marty Stuart still has both guitars and plays them at shows on a regular basis.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

I was thinking about the upright I saw on your youtube channel, where you were playing with youre grandaughter.

Also I was thinking about getting a YPG for my son, (a beginer one) the YPG 235, but opted for a Casio WK-220 instead. He's loving it so far, I'm sure in time he'll be wanting a Steinway.

Yep 'ol Ed nailed it. I went back and read the article it's a variation of a B-bender, stringbender, hipshot. Well in this case a B & G bender. The guys name who makes it is Tim Wallis. http://www.timarastringbenders.com/

Oh, THAT piano. The piano in that little video with my granddaughter is actually my son's and the video was shot at his place.

Some impressive lists

Albert Lee with the B-bender

http://youtu.be/Z8RPjjpbZhA

My own list after 40 years of playing, gigging and recording

K. Yairi acoustic (1974)
Fender Strat (1976)
Yamaha acoustic 12 string
Tanglewood electric 12 string
Gordon Smith electric
Heritage 535
Ibanez bass
Gibson C1 classical (1967)
Columbus electric
Ovation soprano uke
Tanglewood concert uke
Eko 5 string banjo
Fender telecoustic
Alden resonator
Turkish saz
An old balalaika and mandolin
A couple of junk shop acoustics

Although I don't gig now (due to tinnitus caused by loud bands and riding motorcycles according to the audiologist!) I still do a lot of home recording and try to use as many of them as I can.

Cheers

Rich

I'm 52, always loved music but never played an instrument and never thought I could. I started trying to play guitar about 4 years ago, and was instantly hooked. I've taught myself using free lessons I found on the internet. I'm probably just an "advanced beginner" now, but can happily say that I can play stuff that others recognize as actual music! I have 4 guitars now, none of which are high end, but I think they are all nice instruments:

Squire Strat HSS (my first)
Epiphone Les Paul Studio
SX Tele clone from Rondo Music
Yamaha FG730S acoustic

Thanks for starting this thread!

I turned 30 this year. I have owned geetars on and off since I was probably 19 or 20. I don't know what the heck I am doing, but I can make some sounds! A year or so ago I got drafted into the bass role with some friends. We just wanted to hang out and jam. We sometimes show up to open mic nights in town here. It's great fun with great friends.

I am a BC Rich fan. That's all I buy, as well as the corporate partners, Micheal Kelly and Kustom. My first geetar was an '80's hot pink BC Rich strat. It was total sh!t! My first real one was a cheap ESP starter kit.

Guitars of my past;
BC Rich Eagle
BC Rich Virgin 7-string
Schector 7-string
BC Rich Beast IT
BC Rich Jr. V IT
Plus a few others I am forgetting...

Current rig;
BC Rich Eagle One 4-string Bass
Kustom KBX10 - Bass Practice Amp
Kustom KBX200 - Bass Live Amp
Micheal Kelly Series 15 Arena Acoustic Guitar

Wish list;
BC Rich Masterpiece 4 Eagle Bass
BC Rich Masterpiece 4 Mockingbird Bass
BC Rich Greg Weeks Signature Eagle Bass
Kustom Sienna 65 Acoustic Amp
Micheal Kelly Firefly 4 Acoustic Bass
Micheal Kelly Dragonfly 4 Acoustic Bass

First electric guitar I ever bought was back in 1984. bottom shelf bargin bin at music store. MASADA LP copy. it was a guitar with neck issues but it was 80 bucks. traded up about 6 months later for this great Ibanez strat. It played great! then traded that for a now collectors Guild S60 with a funky shape and a single humbucker and a vol knob. then my first very nice guitar was My Kramer Striker, I really miss that guitar!!
After that there was a blond tele and there were a couple Epi LesPaul LT's. My first one rocked with a Alan Holdsworth AH1 in the bridge (now also an expensive custom wind you have to special order!)
and currently an my Epi SG G-400 w/ a Lynch Screaming Deamon in the bridge.
This is the guy who taught me to play guitar with it.

Acoustics:
first one,, a starter Yamha (50 bucks from my buddy)

Kamen deep bowel (still have,an it was my cruise ax! been everywhere and well used)
Ovation Pacemaker 12 string.

not counting my sons guitars an basses thats that

OH the dream set of stomps

My first and only guitar true love was a '76 Gibson L5-S.

Her untimely demise came at the hands of a vengeful ex-wife who drug it for well over 15 miles behind her car. Gone'd.

I picked up an L6-S on the cheap, but it was less than a shallow reflection. So I gutted the ****** and installed TV Jones p'ups and a Bigsby.

Full bore Punkabilly plank now!
