Love it. Covered several chrome pieces on my Rocket. Been there for 3 years with no problems.

I plasti-dipped the grill and emblems on my car, worked out great. I wouldn't hesitate to do it to my bike if I wanted to go in that direction.

stuff works pretty good, i have seen some nice work done with the stuff, but you need to put at least 4-5 coats and waite a good hour between coats for it to stay on well (have read allot on the stuff)

My only contribution is that while it is easy to apply and very versatile, you have to be somewhat careful as it can tear and when the bike is hot, it does get tacky.

I applied it to the rearset brackets and the chain cover, as you can see in this pic: http://i.imgur.com/DKeYauU.jpg

I've had passengers tear the plastidip with their boots, and when the guard is hot, the plastidip tends to pick up dirt. Still, its easy to apply, easy to re-apply, and looks great.

Go to dipmycar.com and check out some of the stuff they have done.a friend of mine has done a lot of his shadow with it and is about to really get creative with multi colors and layers with pinstripes. I have used it to paint a wide stripe around my van and what is cool is if it gets scracthed I repaint it melts into what was there so no sanding or prep it just blends.

Newt, How does it hold up to love bugs? I'm thinking of trying it on a vehicle with a rather large frontal area and this seems to be kind of a regional question that I haven't heard an answer to.

Thanks. Thinking of changing the front bumper on my Tacoma from black to white. Do NOT want to pay the $500 quoted.

We haven't seen much of the little buggers in a few years, but let me paint something and they'll be everywhere!

Bought a can of Foliatec Spray Film from Repco today. Same as Plastidip.

This stuff is a plastic film. Coated the chrome headlight shell in some black gloss. My spraying may not have been the best. Its black now. Might do the forks next.

I spray my bike with a silicon spray ( makes cleaning it easier ) ... will plasti dip stick to it or do i need to wipe it down with thinners or something first?

Prepping the surface to be clean and oil free is in the instructions, so.... Yes. You need to wash the silicone away.

I've gotten two seasons out of mine with little wear. As long as you don't spill gas on it, there doesn't seem to be a problem. If you spray too lightly, you'll get a lot of texture. The best finish came by spraying just short of the point where it will run. I used 5 cans on my bike (tank, side cover, rear fender & headlight housing). I should have put one more coat on the top of the tank, as that is where it seems a little thin. MUST BE FREE OF DIRT, OILS, or SILICON SPRAYS BEFORE YOU SPRAY.

BTW: I bought mine online at dipyourcar.com. Probably the same price as anywhere else, but the nozzles you can buy from them work better than the ones that come on the can.

I plastidipped a few things and in my new bike, I did it on the licence plate holder and the results are excellent.
In my opinion, the surface to be plastidipped must be absolutelly dirt, silicone and oil free.
I don't recommend plastidipping surface that could get hot, very dirt or exposed to constant rubbing or friction such as chain guard or pegs mount. If you paint the tank, be carefull not to spoil fuel on it as it would wear and peel off.
Have in mind that painting large surfaces, will take quite a big number of Plastidip cans, so consider if final cost is really worthwhile.
You must apply several thin layers (not less than 5), trying not to overlap them, and wait a couple of minutes between layers. Then let it dry and clean with a soft rag. Once clean, you may apply a layer of wax or silicone in order to protect the plastidip. Avoid using solvents and do not use high-pressure washing machine on painted surfaces.
