That bear wouldn't have wanted to bite me! Not unless he had a taste for pi$$ and $hit that would have been all over me!

I've been around a lot of bear from my bush days. They can climb a tree about as fast as they can run across ground. That was an amazing piece of video!
Live to love, love to live.

I have seen a bear or two. Pretty awesome sight when they come close.
But I have never seen one while hunting for a dropped nut or washer, even though I get all growly when I cant find it.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

very cool video. I had an encounter with a bear while out rabbit hunting in the early spring once. Walking around a big spruce tree (trying to kick up a rabbit) only to find a brown bear coming around the other way. We both stopped, maybe 10 feet apart. I think there was a mutual 'oh ******' (there was I my end for sure). The bear started backing up and so did I. I should mention the basset hound that i was hunting with had already ran away. The bear backed off and bit and then turned and walked off. The bear looked pretty rough so I assumed it had just come out of hibernation. I descided to hunt in a different direction for a while.

It was western New York and I was about 14 at the time and did not make a distinction of the type of bear vs color. I am sure you are correct that it was actually the black bear species.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Why did I read that as "hunting wabbit"?

I dunno, Bryn. Maybe 'cause you watched one too many of those old Warner Brothers cartoons when you were a wittle kid???
(...that'd be MY guess anyway)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
