...no not that kind, the Google variety. Needed a new laptop and wanted avoid Windows 8 and didn't want to lay out the scratch for an Apple product. Decided to give Chrome a try. Really like it after getting used to it with one exception so far...when attempting to login here the 'Please Login' window doesn't appear (using my kid's machine for this note). Anyone have any suggestions on getting around this?

Install Win 7, Win 8 just plain sucks. Specially if you do not have a touch screen.

Win8 is a great OS but it is designed for tablets. All operating systems will look like 8 in a few years. Like you, I much prefer Win7 on anything without a touchscreen. Stardock sells a $5 app that makes 8 look like 7 but with the efficiency upgrades of Win8.

Maybe that will help if you keep it as favorites or set to remember the login.

There's always a combination of a PC and Linux.

I'm really pretty happy with Chrome overall despite an occasional mystery. Pretty much use the machine for surfing and that's about it. For $300 I can't complain.
