Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I had just seen that as well. Every one of his books that I have read has been a page turner. A very talented and insightful author, R.I.P.

Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger. Spellbinding author. He'll be missed.

I just finshed reading "Threat Vector" a couple of weeks ago. He was one of my favorite authors. An NBC military analyst said the Pentagon thought he had access to classified information when writing his books. The analyst said that Clancy was just smart and well read. I heard somewhere that he wasn't even in the military. RIP Thomas Leo "Tom" Clancy Jr. You will be missed.

He was a great writer. I really enjoyed his books. That being said, no one who ever served in the military for any length of time would ever think he had "access to classified information".
He frequently had amusing 'reality miscues' but they never detracted from his narratives.
RIP
