I went to a big Triumph rally this past weekend in WI, and my bike won the award for most "shagadelic motorbike"! There were only 3 or 4 Americas/Speedmasters there, out of about 30 or 40 bikes (guessing), and an America ended up taking home the award! I thought that was pretty cool. [image]  [/image]

Winning an award is super cool, but what in the heck qualifies a bike as Shagadelic anyway. Care to elucidate?

With me being from England and having lived here for 33 yrs. I cannot understand why the Americans (of which i am now one ) use the word shag. When i was growing up (i'm now 58) the word shag was a slang word that meant the same as f$%k. ( i'm trying to be polite here). So it kind of makes me apprehensive when people use it as a comical sounding word. I know i'm on this side of the pond and here i believe it means to go and fetch a ball or stick and bring it back.It's just one of the many different interpretations of the same word.
When we first emigrated in Nov 1980 I came with my wife and two daughters who were only 4 yrs old and 17 months old. We had only been in the country 6 months and my wife stayed home with the children. This meant that she didn't get to learn some of the slang terms used here for quite a while. She went outside the house to call the cat in and was shouting for it and saying
pu#$y,pu#$y, pu#$y. Thats our slang for cat, i went running outside to tell her to say kitty instead. Just one of lifes memorable moments, Des.

Im guess it would mean a bike that is most likely to attract attention from women , and even get ya in the sack with one.

There were 3 awards given out, one was farthest traveled, one was best kilt, and then the one I got. I took it as a "coolest" bike award, sort of a best in show, without it being an official show.

It's because of Austin Powers. Just kind of funny to say. And I believe it still means what it used to when you were back in the U.K., at least in this context.

The term "Shag dancing" has been very popular in the Carolinas of the US for many years. Here's a bit of the history. Shag Dancing, Carolina style
