Grrrrr...the connector for my positive lead is broken. We discovered it while out and about. After getting the bike jury-rigged to get home, I think I forgot to pick up that little red plastic lead cover for the positive terminal for the battery. It got removed while we were troubleshooting.
Do I need a special Triumph part number or is it something I can find at any good auto parts store ? I'm also looking for a new connector, since mine is broken. Do I have to look for any special rating, size, etc ?
Thanks in advance.
Steve

you can use just about any regular connector,(i would sauder it on though versus clamp) either the C shaped one or the loop, not sure what you have there but over here i would just go to Canadian Tire, for the cover you can use a tone of things, heavy duty balloon (red one!) you could also use liquid masking tape etc. not sure if i was helpful or not.

You just need the cable's gauge (10 ?) and the dimension of the battery's post (1/4"?) and you can get one at Home Depot, Platt Electric, Napa, Cut Rate, on and on, etc. ad nauseum. Soldering after crimping it on is good too. An electrical supply such as Platt is probably the best bet for the insulator. I'm a hillbilly, I would use shrink tube slid up the wire until I got the lug on, slide it down, heat gun it and ride.

Ryk, Just came back from Napa and had no luck, yet. I didn't have the specifics. Maybe I'll go back. Soldering wouldn't have helped this problem, it broke right at the joint between the crimp and terminal "plate".
Thanks none the less. I might go back to Napa. I'm going to try to open up the crimped section, taking it with me might help me size it.
Update: Talked with my friendly local dealer (Tacoma). Turns out, you have to buy the whole wiring harness !! That's not going to happen. My nephew, who is out visiting, is quite a gearhead, much like his dad. He was the one who helped me get the bike running so I could get home today. We were supposed to ride out to Mt. Rainier. He's going to come by in the morning to help sort it all out.
Oh, if you're looking for a small set of jumper cables (ie motorcycle size), Walmart sells them for about $10.
