Hey guys, hope someone can point me in the right direction. Recently my bike started sputtering on one side only after the engine heats up. Plugs have spark and you can see a bit of a puff coming from the rubber connector from carb to the engine. My mechanic friend said it might be a timing magnet in the crankcase, checked that but wouldn't that make the whole bike misfire. My son thinks the carb may need a good cleaning or valve may be sticking. Any other ideas, I might look for.
Thanks 04 America.

I would do a compression test (both sides). Perhaps you have a valve sticking. I wouldn't run the engine under a load until you have this resolved. Do not add to the damage.

Could be the air gap on the pick-up if it's an early model (2002-2004)... the tech vault has the details. Valve sticking?.. seriously doubt it. No margin for error in the the top end area.
Carbs.. ignition coil.. igniter.. loose connection... these are just a few. Just start the process of elimination.

If you are seeing anything at the rubber coupling for the bard that rubber might be bad and leaking causing the bike to run poorly.
