It's been a long time (a year or so) since I had a look at this place and it's great to see a lot of the old salts are still around. For those who are newer on here and don't know me, I was a constant poster and reader since 2006 and got to know lots of members on here more as friends than as just people who I shared info with. Anyway, I wanted to simply touch base again and to say I will be back on here more often now. The reason is, I purchased a Tiger Explorer with a view of doing some extensive traveling in and around Aus in my retirement. Unfortunately I have a chronic back condition which simply didn't allow me to ride the Tiger for any length of time. Not really that good when someone wants to put ride some serious K's in and around this big country of mine. So I had to bight the bullet and put what is essentially an absolutely beautiful bike up for sale. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement but hey, life can be like that. I gave it a go but my back had other ideas about the whole thing ha ha. I'm also somewhat annoyed with myself too cos I'll be losing a considerable amount of the hard earned of mine by selling after only a year and putting lots of oem accessories on the Tiger. Like I said, that's life and continually beating myself up about it isn't really worth time given it actually achieves very little. So in a positive sense, aren't I happy I didn't sell my Speedy after all cos even though I did have plans to, I simply couldn't get round to doing it. Yay, a win for Stacka cos that would have been a real trajedy. So now she'll be getting the attention she deserves again after being somewhat neglected as I had that year long affair with the faster younger women ha ha. The other positive besides looking forward to working on my speedy and getting her back to scratch (I've already unblocked her main jets from old fuel), I've also got plans to buy a 4wd and what's called a slide on camper to fit on the back of the Ute tray. This will be my new form of major travel around Aus, replacing what was going to be the Tiger's job. So essentially I'm simply rearranging how I go about the traveling Aus thing. See, it's all good still. Anyway as I said, I just wanted to touch base briefly to say gidday from stacka in Aus and should be back on here talking to my buddies and also many of the newer blokes who've joined since I've been away. Finally, here's a set of pic I've taken of my tiger which I'm using in the ad to sell her. I doubt you'll disagree with me when you say she's an absolute beauty. Stacka

Yota, I hope your back pain isn't too bad mate. You know you will have to start doing some gym work don't you? Getting those muscles around your spine strong helps enormously to alleviate the pain.
Keith, why did I leave in the first place. Well I was busy sorting out the Tiger and couldn't afford to run two bikes (one is enough for me, I'm just like that) Meaning I was on a different forum learning all about the new steed.
Now it's up for sale I'm devoting time to my Speedy and once the Tiger is sold (fingers crossed on that front), I'll get Speedy registered and insured and start riding it.
That's the idea anyway. I just hope I can move the Tiger cos I'm not going to throw it away. So I need to remain fluid on that front.
Anyway, the other reason for not being on here is simply time. It takes a long time to tap away on here and there is only just so much time anyone has considering all the other aspects of life we have to devote our time too.
Even now I have a lot of reading to catch up to which requires a lot of time. I suppose if you aren't in the same situation as someone else, It's hard to imagine.

So did you have to retire from fire fighting? I'm guessing a bad back really hampers that work. Really sorry to hear that back has buggered your plans for exploring but on the other hand it's nice to have you back old friend.
That Explorer is a beauty. Arrow pipe, too...nice and spendy but so light and sweet. That bike is perfectly farkled for the purpose, you should have an easy sale once the tire kickers leave you alone.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

Sorry to hear about the Explorer not working out for you. I'm planning on purchasing an explorer as well, mainly do to butt pain on long trips. The ergos of an America don't seem to fit my 6'5" frame. I'm hoping that putting my legs under me will be more comfortable for longer trips. To bad you're in Australia. I might have taken that Explorer off your hands.

As I've said before, it really sucks about the Tiger situation, but we're glad your back where you belong. Just don't try to run away again or it will be much worse for ya next time. BAWAHAHAHHA (evil laugh) LOL.

Too bad about your back, and how the Explorer's riding position seemed to aggravate your pain. I guess ya never know about stuff like this. I would've thought the feet forward riding position of your Speedy would've caused more of this than the more standard-style Explorer. Well anyway, glad to see you'll be back here a little more often now.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
