Had the opportunity to ride today with a buddy from work (who apparently is bat shat crazy). Long story shot my buddy rides a fully tricked out Ducati 1199 Panigale R (over 200hp at the rear wheel). I took him out to our best turn and burn run (Thornton Gap) to see what they really had. Well we found out. I saw him twice. The first time was when he went by me like I was standing still at the bottom of the run (and I wasn't cutting Elvira any slack at the time). The second time was when he was stopped and standing at the side of that beast waiting for me at the bottom on the back side. Elvira and I were more than sufficiently humbled.

Were you riding the 06 TBA? What made you humble? Did you expect that you would keep up? Might as well try keeping up with a bullet.
If you were on a Hayabusa themn you should feel humble.

Ah, those Ducs make some serious power and handle like they are on rails. But I learned it is true, it is much more fun to go fast on a slower bike than it is to have to hold one of those beasts back.

That said, the sound and power is intoxicating

I tried a Ducati Streetfighter a while back... riding that beast on the road is not even fun... so twitchy! A race track, yes! the road with traffic all around, no!

Then, I got offered to hop on a Diavel the other day.

Ducati tried to combine what it would be if a cruiser and a race bike had offsprings....

I still don't know if I liked it or not... but it was a heck of a ride!

What did you expect! nothing like trying to hitch a plowmule and a thouroughbred together. My friend got the same affect when he tried to ride with me on his nightster behind my tiger.

Yes I was on my 06 BA (Elvira) and yes I did have delusions that not only could I keep up with him but that he couldn't keep up with me. I know that road like the back of my hand and routinely embarrass guys on sport bikes (you know the type... all hat and no cattle). I thought that I would have the edge because I knew the road and he had never laid eyes on it. What I found out was he has a world class superbike and he knows how to use every bit of it. His knowledge of the road was of no consequence. Note to self... I am way too old to mess with smoking hot Italian girls in red dresses.
