The wife treated the boy to a half day photo shoot on the America this morning. As we were following behind him in our Tahoe, heading home after the shoot, we got caught at a red light. A young man pulled along side Steven in the right turn lane and hollered to him, "Nice old bike!" Steven just said "Thanks". I laughed! Sheesh!, I know it's an '05, but damn...

haha...yeah happens to me all the time.
A few years back I was riding with Ian in PA somewhere we stopped in to get some food, parked our bikes beside a couple of Honda baggers in the lot. Guy comes in and says "who's riding that old Triumph out there?" We both turn and say "which one, theres two triumphs out there?" Guy responds "no, I mean the OLD Triumph out there". I'm like "theyre both practically the same year, but the OLD one is an 03!" Guys like..."oh?" and silence.

Yep.
Someone always asks "What year?" When the answer is " '05 ", it ends the conversation.

I had a "what year is it" and replied 2007. The questioner moved on,giving me a look that said I was obviously lying.

I get that all the time. Heck, even saying 'its an 05' gets you a '1905?'response
Ya, sure 1905, those triumphs were pretty good back in the day.

Happened to me today. Came out of a store and a middle aged guy in a BMW sedan said "nice Triumph, what year is it?" I said "2011" he looked confused and said "but it has carburetors." I explained what they really were and pointed out the 02 sensors for the EFI. When someone takes the time to compliment your bike you've got to be patient with them.

I remember once a toll booth guy asked what year, and when I told him 03 he said.... "oh I guess you just put an old Triumph tank on there?"
I was shaking my head no as I sped away.
