Hey all, I noticed that my tail light wasn't working the other night. After digging around I found my park light Wasn't working on the front either. Also my Speedo lights have gone. So I dug around and the lights all work when you put the ignition switch in "p".But not the Speedo light. the book says replace the ignition switch. Anyone ever done this? Also I can't see how this affects the Speedo. Thanks.

Looking at the schematic, it does make sense that this is a bad ignition switch. It's hard to explain but the taillight and position light are tightly coupled in the circuit. However, the speedo light is in a different part of the circuit, most importantly, on another outlet from the ignition switch.

Most likely, the gray wire on the ignition switch has broken off its solder joint.

Do the headlights work?

Hey, hep headlight works. I am pulling it apart today. Due for a rego check in 2 weeks. My brother is an auto electrician and he wants to borrow my ute. LOL. He will have to work for it. I did notice that changing the speedo bulbs are a pain. Are there really 2 of them? Seems strange them both going.

ok, note to self, Check the fuses twice. And replace burnt out ones with good ones. So the Speedo light supplies power to the parking lights. I flxed the Speedo and now the parkies work. But the book telling you be check the ignition switch it the lights don't work should have a caveat about the speedo fuse. But then I should have had a proper look at the circuit diagram.
