Soooo, after residing in the US for the last 23 years I have decided its time to become a US citizen (I know,I am not a fast learner). Its quite a process and not cheap either,but its now all done,passed my citizenship test(the last step)last month. I swear in on Fri Sep 13th at 1.45pm(The irony of the date was not wasted on me)  'Murica

Congratulations Bill, I too became a citizen in 2004 I'm from Manchester and have been here for almost 33 yrs. I support Man City, hence my handle of
MCFCINUSA. Best thing I ever did was emigrating. Get someone to video the ceremony as it is an emotional day. Des.

Welcome! You folks that take the effort to become legal citizens impress me more than a lot of our native born sons. You undoubtedly know more about this country and what it stands for than a lot of them do too.  & I'm only second generation American born, so I was raised to appreciate what it meant to my Grandparents.

One of the early US Presidential hopefuls (they start campaigning just after birth) just gave up his Canadian citizenship. Somehow struck me as...odd.
I have no idea how that works.

He was born in Canada and was thus granted Canadian citizenship. He has renounced any claim to Canadian citizenship and produced his actual birth certificate if there are any questions.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I wish we all had to pass the citizenship test before we could vote. Or maybe even Robert Heinlein's idea. Congrats, you know more about how the country is supposed to work than 90% of the native born public.
