No not the sideways drift, but the $55 tool I didn't have and didn't realize I needed until I was going to put my forks back together. Ya know, the one needed to "drift " the oil seal back into place.
Anyway being that I'm kin to erle, I'm cheap, also I wanted to "Git R Done" so I wasn't going to order the tool. So I had to figure out something that would work. That's when I saw I piece of PVC conduit in the corner of my garage. One end was flared out a little to just over 1.5" ID, just a little over 2" long. Fit great, however being that short I couldn't get any "drive" behind it to get the seal in place. So then I went to a local harware store, found some, 1.5" ID schedule 40 PVC, got back home cut of a 2 foot piece and CRAP, the ID was about .125" to small and I wasn't about to ream out a 2 foot length of it. That's when I got a small piece of oak board, using a paddle bit drilled out a 1.5" hole, sanded it a little bigger, cut some handles on it to used it as a driver for the original 2" piece of conduit. All in all it worked like a champ. Sorry for the crappy write up, but figured the idea might help someone out. Now she's all put back together, down low and dirty, dropped 2" in the front, 1" in the rear. Handles way better than before, no more brake dive, way smoother over bumps, no bottoming out and so far only scraping the side stand. (Haven't pushed to hard , YET!)
