Early Hinkley Bonnevilles were prone to having cluch shudder caused, I believe (and the knowledgeable here will correct me if I'm wrong), by baskets that were machined to a bit looser tolerance. They were replaced under warranty. Each machine with warranty work has a history available to any dealer's service shop so you can find out if anything was ever done. Of course it may be something as simple as adjusting the cable. I always go for the most expensive fix first

Call RPM Cycle in Dallas (972-620-3883) and put the question to them. Sounds like your shop adjusted the cable too tight. As I see it, if the cable were too tight, the clutch might slip potentially making it worse. A too loose cable could cause grinding shifts, but the clutch would be fully engaged and not slipping.
Get it checked out and let us know the result.
