Planning to replace OEM bulb in the next wk or so. Fast Eddy has a bulb that interests me, wonder if anyone uses this, or has heard of any heat, current, voltage, power problems related to it. Brighter is definitely better, but do not wanna introduce an electrical or heat problem. I am not sure the draw of the OEM bulb, but this one is stated as 60/55W.

PIAA H4 60/55W SUPER PLASMA

The Extream also looks good.

OEM bulb is 60/55W. I have a Sylania something or other from the local auto parts place and it is much better than the stock lamp.
Fasteddy should have the right stuff.

edit: I see that was post #100 for me. Now up to the Adjunct status!

Yeah, I have a large degree of faith in Fast Eddy as well but wanted to ask the jury. I won't be buying for another week, 2 tops. Sounds funny, but Fall is the time to ride, summer is cool, but Fall is where it's at, so am looking forward to having my BS sorted out a being mucho grande style before September.

OK, I'm now ponderin' on this- would not a 50 or 60 watt lamp put out the same lumens regardless of the manufacturer? I have a 15.00 Sylvania lamp with the stock lens and it just really sucks at night. Can't see much at all, so I just squint and follow the lines. A lamp is somewhat "dumb", it just makes a fixed amount of light. That said, would not a substandard beam be a function of the cut of the lens and it's inability to concentrate the light where it's needed?
I haven't ruled out the sealed beam retrofit thing.
I just wanna see down the road like a light should allow me to do. I was just wonderin' am I the only one. Like I'm wonderin' what these 12 qts. of salsa I just canned taste like.
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions, experiences*, on infinitum.

* please limit experiences to headlights just this one time

Don't hesitate... just buy it! I've been running with PIAA for years now and wow, what a difference. Same wattage yet tons more light. I have PIAA in my headlight and driving lights and it's like night and day (no pun intended) compared to stock. See and be seen!!!!!

I imagine it is a matter of upgraded manufacturing techniques, better living through chemistry, new technology. That's what I imagine.

The stock reflector does leave a bit to be desired. I actually purchased a new headlight (reflector & xenon lamp) from one of the on-line M/C stores. Did some experimentation when new and the new lamp in the OEM reflector was better than stock and about as good as the OEM lamp in the new reflector! Just backyard light pointing at night, no real science. New lamp & new reflector improved the view at night noticeably

I dropped that bulb in the VStar-250 my daughter rides - its OEM was worse than the America's. It is very bright - I keep saying I should do it for the America, but have been happy with the visibility of the driving light lamps.

A lot more expensive but also a lot brighter:

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
