Well, after reading the thread on "Journalism is Dead in America", I can tell you that it is not only restricted to America! (but you all knew that, of course!)

This article in the news yesterday made my day. It told about a young man who died while training for the army. Sad news, but even sadder is the way it has been told.

The news said that the young man was pushed to do exercise beyond its abilities and that his muscles liquefied and then died...

What? I'm pretty sure a human being would pass out from exhaustion waaaayyyy before his muscles "liquefied"!!!

Of course, around me, there are plenty of people sharing this astounding story... and incredibly some of them even believe the story (well, it was printed in the news, it must be true, right?)

Which brings me to the movie.
I saw "God Bless America" not so long ago, and it does cover pretty much all that has been mention in the "journalism" thread.

Good movie, if you haven't seen it. And directed by none other than the ineffable Bobcat Goldthwait, so you know what to expect!

That's why I only look at BBC news.

Bet they think spontaneous combustion of a human being is also plausible, must have said that in print at some time or another.

Was always told that one would pass out before irreparable damage would occur during extreme exercise. Of course it was the people driving me to perform such activities saying same.
And they never mentioned the "ouch" from the earth raising rapidly to meet whatever portion of your body leading the charge.

It sure is plausible! Have you NEVER said that one thing that sets your wife off?
