Can anyone explain vin number for an aussie 2013 Triumph America with SMTTJ9118RD

Prob right- You can't put too many numbers and things in front of an Aussie, they're to easily confused.

While we are on vehicle ident numbers, does anybody know the cutoff #s whereas Speedy s crossed over to 865cc s from the 790 s in '05?

According to my rego papers my 05 was first registered here in NZ new on the 23/02/2005. Its an 865. VIN-SMTTJ906145216901, Engine #217842.
And apology's are in order, I didn't see it was his first post, but to be fair an Aussie is an Aussie.

Well.... according to one VIN number finder I found my bike is actually a Norton from 2004!

All Speedmasters were 865s in 2005 from the 2004 production run. 90% of the 2005s will be built in 2004 on the manufacture sticker. Unless they did something different for Europe I don't know about.
Its a direct motor swap so many may have a new or swapped motor 8 years later.

That makes sense. If I read my VIN number correctly it seems to indicate it was actually built in 04.

It's Ok Cloudy i'm thick skinned emailed Triumph got info for vin just shows model type engine type etc.
Better let you go Cloudy so you can count your Sheep ! LOL
