I lived in Stephentown, NY. The signs say "The only Stephentown on Earth". Not sure how they figured that out. It is south of Granville (just looked it up) also on RT. 22. I suppose Stephentown is more east than north of Albany. Still love the country up there, what a beautiful place. And pretty cold. I manage to get up there once a year or so, but not with the bike. I used to drive up to Bennington, VT to have a few drinks when the age changed to 21 in New York, but had remained 18 in VT.

All,
I'm a network/telecommunications engineer with Universal Space Network. Basically, I build ground station networks for satillite missions. I thought the aerospace industry would be interesting, however, a network in areospace suprizingly is the same as a nework in financial. Boring, boring, boring!!!

since 1982 i have been a mainframe systems programmer specializing in IBM's Customer Information Control System (CICS), an unparalleled product that although invented in the U.S.(Richmond VA, by Ben Riggins, 1968) has been supported by IBM in Hursley, England since 1974. every time you use an atm card or a credit card, you usually use, among other things, CICS. Most every time someone keys information into a computer screen - at the airport, the hospital, the car reservation desk etc., and hits 'enter', CICS is working in the background. I work for Lockheed Martin doing onsite support for the Social Security Administration. I'm vying for a switch to the dark side, hoping for a government job. same seat, same hat, same pay, better bene's and more time off. with wife for 11 super bowls, married 6, with a 2 year old son.

S-3s and P-3s? Where and when? I was a Tacco in VS-21 78-81 and in VS-37 84-86. I went to VP-60 (reserves) in Glenview 87 through 94 when they shut us down.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Worked in manufacturing for many years. Closed at least 4 shops in this area. 3 of them were very good jobs. Got tired of starting over again and again. Went to school for nursing. Worked in a women's state prison for 2 years and recently transfered to a state nursing home for Veterans. The security of nursing is great and taking care of the vets is great, too. Did a 3 year stint in the USN. Married with 2 kids, just adopted a homeless dog from Hurricane Katrina. Life is good. Also love playing Texas Hold'em.

Mainframe computer jockey for a BIG insurance company...that's my cover. My real jobs are a 'double-not' spy and an international porn star.

I had an "underbody flush" once. It's not something I like remembering...
Euphemism for a colonoscopy? I have a healthy respect for any medical instrument that measures by the foot!
I'm a private investigator, doing mostly criminal defense, but some civil litigation (plaintiff's personal injury and accident work), and skip trace work. Licensed in California, where I came from after 10 years n the Army, but work in Colorado (no licensing requirement).
Finished a trial yesterday, verdict today (not good - 0 for 7, guilty on counts from 1st degree murder to 3rd degree assault on a prior event that was joined with the newer case. Charged as a non-Death Penalty case so client is LWOP (life w/o parole), plus about 24 years (don't ask me how they get that much out of someone). My compliments to our DA's office, they did an outstanding job, no cheap shots (even from our skewed point of view).
It's a challenging profession, and, as in this case, may take a year out of your life, not one hour, less commercials. Now it's back to my two typical types of cases; guns 'n drugs, and drugs 'n guns.

just spent about 30 mins reading this link so gotta have my 2 penneth. left school got a job as telephone engineer with GPO, they became Telecom, they became British Telecom, they became BT and now we have been carved of (worrying) to become Openreach (part of the BT group) just right for sell of whilst I am just hanging in there for the "gold watch ... 35 years service in so far. Done most of it but for last 15 years becoming a rare commodity in the broadband era as a Transmission eng Narrowband and wideband provision and maintainence of systems and bearers, (Still lots of old analogue stuff to keep running until the new generation is fully up and functioning) 2Mb an upwards... sky is the limit, You'll all be useing my stuff somewhere I guarantee that. Mustn't grumble really, a good job that has taken me inside some interesting customers premises. Still go in holes climb poles/ masts..... when the weather is right and if I really want to!!! cheers, Mike
Looks like we come from the same mould. I was starting to think I was the only one that has worked all my adult life for one company and that being a major Telecommunication one at that. I think in our field things change so quickly you don’t feel like you have been doing the same job for so long. Each new day seems to bring new technologies and it’s a constant battle to just keep up with the changes.

Rick, thank you for helping our veterans. That is a very noble thing you are doing. I may end up in one of the veteran homes myself someday and it's good to know there are folks out there like you who really want to help us veterans. Thanks again, Dale
